brand new tranny grind

hi a friend of mine just got a front wheel drive tranny rebuilt put it in and everything but it grinds and wont go into first gear with the motor shut off it shifts into all gears. help!!!!

Double check clutch disengagement. Put it in gear. Depress clutch and try to start. If it bucks while trying to start you will need to check over the entire clutch system

The clutch needs bled, or is adjusted wrong. It will ruin the trans quickly like that.

Adjust the rod (its above the gas peddle ) I just had this same problem after about an 30mins of adjusting , It garbed every gear easy ..Make sure to bleed it , then bleed it some more , then bleed it again , then bleed it just to make sure (also make sure to top the fluid up)

Don't forget to check you shifter cable adjustments.

He may have been stating the same thing, but check for clutch drag. It will screw up shifting as it will never really disengage the clutch. This will put stress on the syncros or prevent shifting altogether.

when he put the transmission on he said the throw out bearing was smaller or something he ordered it online so could it be that?

put your car in first gear. then rev to 2step or around 6000 rpms on a flat surface. If your car moves at all you will need to adjust your clutch to catch earlier on the pedal to pull it further away and have everything engage smoothly

Have you checked the clutch bearing in the pedal assembly? If that is worn all the adjustments in the world are not going to help. Bleed your clutch, adjust your clutch pedal, and if still not working, I would assume its the pedal assembly itself.

his clutch pedal is squeaky and im pretty sure its leaking fluid a little bit

how do you do that?

You adjust it right on the clutch pedal in car. As for checking to see if the clutch is engauging i explained how it has to be done. ***ON A FLAT SURFACE** is key to doing it properly
