Brakes

Okay my car sat for a year and a half. the brakes are rusty and need to be replaced. but for some reason it feels like my e brake is sticking on. When im parked i will hit the gas and my car wont move fast and it feels like something is pulling me backwards. it will randomly start happening when im driving. when i hit a bump it will start doing it again. and it makes a terrible loud screaching noise. i need help. im not sure if my e brake is stuck on or what. this weekend i am replacing all rotors and pads, but i dont want to replace rotors and pads and have them ruined cause the brake is stuck on.

check for seized slide pins on the front, and rears if you have disc in the rears.

make sure to grease any moving parts, especially the slide pins, check out the ebrake cable also, should be fairly easily identified if it is seizing or not.

When I originally got my car I had a caliper that was seizing up, causing my car to pull to that side so just make sure that your calipers are good too. if there's any grease or anything around the piston it may be a bad caliper. They sell caliper rebuild kits if the piston still moves in and out

yeah i was driving yesterday adn the caliper completely locked up. i am away at college and had to get it towed. now i have to find somewhere to do the work.

you can check the soft lines that connect to the calipers as well if they are clogged or kinked the dont allow the brake fluid to flow back into the master cylinder and cause the illusion of a stuck caliper.

i bled and flushed the line. it was pretty nasty. the brake fluid was definetly bad. it was black looking. all new fluid, caliper, rotors, and pads and drives like a champ.
