Ok, just bought a 91 eclipse 5 speed awd about 2 weeks ago. When i bought it there was a rubbing/scraping sound coming from the rear passenger side wheel. I figured it just needed the brakes done. I had to wait for my next pay check to do them but last night when I went to back the car into the driveway it was almost like my e brake was locked. I took the wheel off, i think the ebrake cable is fine(its fairly loose), but i noticed something between the rotor and the dust shield. I got it out and its a piece of metal about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick(in the shape of a brake pad). I know some brake pads use metal strips to let you know when to change the pads but this looks like the entire pad itself
. If it is the pad and i was driving around with it like that for a couple weeks is my caliper screwed? Also the rotor that is on there now is warped as hell so I was planning on changing that with the pads. Anyone got any advice as to how i can tell if i need a new caliper too?
