well on my honda the plate behind the brake caliper is rusted thru in spots and is makin some weird noises (i dont know if thats it thats making the noise but its a good bet) could i take it off and not have any problems?

Yeah just rip it off.

I have removed the two rear ones on my Talon...they were rusted to nothing.

I removed the twp front ones on the GST is see if I would help brake cooling.
