bov vacumn line disconnected

i have just recently purchased a 90 eclipse gsx my 1st turbo charged car.....i am real new to the game i have tried to do research on my problem but still have questions.......well here it goes i have a uncle that disconnected my vacum hose that runs from my bov that travels to my intake manifold.....after he did this he began to rev the engine since he has done this my car has not run the same?by not running the same i mean...when i 1st got my car and i got on it it would throw me back and the car was smooth when the turbo kicked on like i was driving on ice........now when i get on it not as much kick the turbo does kick on but not as smooth feels rugged....i have cked all hoses that i could i could see did basic tune up (oil change..new spark plug and wires...new intake changed the fuel filter)any ideas of what to try next to get back to running good

That vacuum line that connects to the intake manifold is the bov return line.Please put this back the way it was.Your car will thank you. Try searching for,venting bov and such and readup on this;

ill check the site given to see what i can find but the part i read over on the dsm tunner website all that i read was people arguing over you should and you shouldnt never found answer on how to correct................but i have connected the house back the way that it was.....also while was rev up white smoke came out of the bov?

your car will run much better if you connect the hose. This question is kinda like, my tire is flat and it doesnt ride as well, what should I do?

im going to try reseting my ecu tomorrow to see if that helps any do you think that will make the problem worse?

No, disconnecting the battery will not do anything. Put the hose back on. It's setup to run that way.

I'm not sure if I'm right/wrong but doesn't that line that runs to the intake manifold tell the BOV when its seeing vacuum and to release pressure? I was missing the nipple for that vacuum line so my car did not want to idle at all...I just tapped into another vacuum line on the intake and all was well again.

Do you mean intake manifold or intake pipe? In either case, don't let your uncle touch your car anymore!!!

1. Intake pipe: You're venting your BOV, loosing meter air after you blow off causing rich condition. You're also loosing the rush of air into the intake pipe which will keep the turbo spooled during shifts.

2. Intake manifold: This is much more serious. Without the pressure source hooked up to the bov, two things will happen.

A. The BOV will open at about 7psi+ of boost causing a huge boost leak while you're boosting.

B. The BOV will not open quickly enough to reslease pressure in the intake causing compressor surge. Let's hope that the damage is not already done.

In any case, make sure the vacuum hose is connected back to the intake manifold and the recirculation hose is routed back to the intake pipe. No more boosting until you do so.
