I am using a 1gen DSM BOV for another application....heres a picture of what I have(forgive the bad flaking paint, etc, I'll be repainting it all correctly before I am through here) My question is for the hose barb on the BOV...I am upgrading my vacuum lines and replacing all barbs with industrial pneumatic fittings(see TB adapter) so i am wondering if I could cut off the hose barb and drill it larger, and tap it out to 1/8NPT...whether I would be able to do that anywhere in the "hat" area...I just dont know enough about the inside of the BOV to tell...I could always swap to an aftermarket unit, but i dont want to, seeing as how this BOV works very well for me and I like the sound...and would like to keep it, any help is appreciated

Drilling and tapping for a new fitting might interfere with the diaphragm. I'm not 100% sure though since I've never had a 1G BOV cut open to see the clearances from the diaphragm. :talon:

its actually a '98 neon R/T with a SRT-4 engine swap....so drilling the top should be safe then? I was hoping to redrill the one already there just so I wouldnt have to worry about blocking it off(I suppose I could cut the barb halfway off and use one of my dies to thread the remainder...though finding the correct fitting that way I have a feeling would be a nightmare)

heres a picture of the finished product....I ended up cutting most of the barb off, and blocking the remainder with a screw...which actually seals tight oddly enough....then drilling and tapping the top....the top dented just slightly in the press...which worst case may make for a very slight crushed effect....anyway, I even finished painting it, thanks for all the help guys

p.s. If anyone is curious about the rest of the project it can be found here:

however the rest of it does not pertain to DSMs, except certain parts which are universal
