Ok so i just bought a 98 Eclipse GST Bone Stock
Da Beast: 98 Eclipse GST - Chantilly, Virginia
I love the car but im ready to start lightly modding it. My question is that i know that with stock MAF you cant run a totally vented BOV if you care about performance, what do i have to do to make my BOV vent totally into the atmosphere do i have to get a different MAF. My other question is what about a Hybrid BOV like this one,
Go Fast Bits Hybrid Blow Off Valve - Modern Automotive Performance
Does anyone have any pics or links i searched the forum but no luck.

Go on youtube and search Synchronic BOV with the Anti-Stall kit. My brother bought one for his Sti and he loves it. It has no surg, no turbo lag, and no stalling. Its 100% vented to the atmosphere.

Congrats on the new purchase. Venting is not the way to go, i myself am recirculating and can hear my greddy type-s pretty loud in my car. All i did was put a k&n cone filter. I plan to upgrade to a hard intake pipe and a fmic and up the boost to 15 psi which should be making the woosh effect even louder, maybe close to vented. I suggest you go this route or if not to keep it simple just get hard intercooler pipes.
If you really want to vent and can't wait (which i recommend you do), an hks ssqv is a real good bov. My friend has been running an hks for about half a year already vented and has no bad idle symptoms or dying effect after shifts. Not to mention it sounds pretty nice. :dsm:

When i had a 2g i had the same bov with injen intake recirculated and it was pretty loud and that was at 12psi. You will definitely need to upgrade the bov because the stock plastic one is no good for above stock boost(even then). I would consider a 1g bov which are cheap and effective.
Recirculation will yield arguments from both sides. You definitely know it will be good recirculated. Whether you want to sound "cool" venting and "possibly" deal with some drivability issues is up to you!
Nice clean 2g, btw!

I would guess find a website that sells it and find it for DSM's. But if you really want a louder sound, and still want to make better HP, then just buy a hard intake pipe. It wont be as loud as a vented blow off valve, but people will notice it. Personally i think vented is a bad idea

Your best BOV to get that is both cheap, and performs well would be the 1G BOV. I haven't seen anyone using that BOV that you linked personally. It is still going to be venting 50 percent of the air out if you choose that option, which is still bad. The same concept of some people on here thinking that putting holes in the connection between the BOV and the intake will give them the sound without losing "too much air." You are still losing power.
Do it the proper way, as stated search MAFT so you can see if it is worth it to you.

And you just got added to the list of people to NEVER take advice from.

thanx chico... i think im goin to go with the synapse bov i researched it and it seems to give me what i want with minimal loss (its the same as the hks) When i get more funds ill really do my motor up right with an fmic bigger turbo bigger injectors and fuel pump cam etc. but for right now i will jus go with a more moddest setup.
Although i still dont really understand maft i searched it and it was jus about tunning i still dont really know what it is how to install or where to get it.

I'd just say to not cut corners and convert to a blow through set up with a GM MAF and a Mass air flow translator. Relocate the MAF to your intercooler pipe before the throttle body. Then you can safely vent to the atmosphere.

Otherwise if you're just looking for the "psssht" noise, you can still hear it if its recirculated anyway with an aftermarket valve.

the maft set up is very simple also you can get any bov and use it vented with out any issues. it also does not need to be tuned with. just set base settings and go. i just installed it and i must say my car pulls sooooooooo much harder than before. i also fixed problems of running rich during WOT with the turn of a knob. look for a set up used as i got mine on ebay for 238 shipped with greddy type s bov, maft, gm maf, piping and some couplers. they are like 800-$1000 new. trust me it is the most efficient way and it wil help your later mods out. in my opinion it should be one of the first mods anyone should do. that 2g mas is so restrictive.
