Greddy makes a great BOV, probably one of the best for the money. They aren't very hard to put on. Installation goes a lot easier is you already have an UICP that has the flange for the Greddy welded on there. Then it's just a bolt-on procedure and your off and running.

HKS is a great bov and great for the money to and they make a direct bolt on kit to other wise like stated above just buy piping that is already flanged for the type of bov that you are buying.

Unless you are planning on running more than 20-22psi you don't need anything more than a 1G BOV. You can find them for around 30-50 and everyone makes a flange for them..... Probably the best bang for you buck......

yeah my turbo is fast enough for me now its a stock turbo so 1g bov should be fine do u happen to have any links to a site that has them for $30-$50 and as long as they come with ever thing to bolt on i would be happy

and also another thing i wonder do u get better mile pre gallon on premium gas then unleaded or is it the same? cause seems like i was driving alot more in the tubor and my gas gauge wasn't going down as much as if i was in my n/t

Buy your BOV and UICP together so you can replace your stock setup as a unit. Look in the Classified section, you can get a good price on a used BOV.

The Greddy Type-S is not being made anymore and replaced by the type RS. Im sure guys who like being current will get rid of their BOV to get the new one.

Don't put in regular unleaded gas! Only put premium in! Turbo cars need high octane fuel. Get the highest octane you can.

a 1st gen bov i easy to install but the car will sputter and not run right with the mas air flow senser what u need is a gm mas air flow senser and a maf translater to get the car to run right :talon: :thumb:

that just ruined my day so i will have to spend more money to make it run right after installing the BOV :(

and that $25 that is cheap i need to get some cash LOL i spent it all on the car $3000 cash if i bought the $25 one what else would i need besides that?

You will just need a 1G BOV adaptor flange to bolt on to the stock upper intercooler pipe, or you can buy an aftermarket upper intercooler pipe already flanged for a 1G BOV

Are you serious?? WTF Please dont say things like this when you obviously have no idea what you are talking about

You don't need another MAS, yours will work fine. All you have to make sure of is that the BOV is vented back into the intake so the MAS can compensate for it. I'm not for sure what that guy is talking about, but looking at his mod list wouldn't suggest that he knows what he's doing. WTF

phew thats a load off :) now about the pipe i just buy them off ebay or here as well or do i just make one.

Short version, that guy that recommended getting a GM MAS and MAF-T is mistaken. You can swap out the BOV to anything you like, as long as you continue to recirculate the output gasses (ie: no ricey 'hiss'). You DO need a GM MAS and MAF-T in blowthrough mode if you want to atmospheric vent (aka: rice hiss) properly, due to the way the air metering system in DSMs is set up.

Installing a different BOV can be easy or difficult. You can buy the BOV and an adapter to fit it to your stock-type flange. This is the easiest way, but can cause problems down the line if you develop any boost leaks around the adapter.

Alternately, you can simply have your stock BOV flange cut off, and the proper flange welded on. But unless you know how to weld, it isn't really too do-it-yourself.

The best option is to get a new hard upper intercooler pipe with the BOV flange you want already welded on. It's an airflow upgrade, and allows you to properly swap to a differently-flanged BOV. This is also the most expensive route... around $100 for the hard UICP, and around $200 for your new BOV.

Up to you if you want to take the quick and cheap way, the more time-consuming, or the more expensive Right Way. I always opt for the last of the three with my own DSM, given how temperamental she is.

I bought a GReddy RS that came with an adaptor flange that fit into the stock 2G UICP. When you decide to upgrade pipes you just unbolt it from the adaptor flange. I believe it was about $10-20 more than the regular RS. The install was extremely simple but was complicated by the fact that the RS adjuster screw hits the hood, so the hood bracing had to be notched with a dremel or die grinder.

If you're happy with lower boost, there's no reason to buy a $200 bov. You can have my old 1G for $20. Save the $180 for making the car go faster.

ok so i would rather buy every thing togather if i can and mabe get a guide here just incase i need it

any one know where to get all the stuff for one low price?

Be warned that the stock 1G 'bov' are actually CBVs (compressor bypass valves). There's no way to atmospheric-vent these safely; they're open under vacuum AND after the throttle plate closes abruptly under boost. If you run it without the recirc tube, you'll be sucking in unmetered (and more importantly unFILTERED) air at idle and under vac.
On the bright side, there are adaptors to mount a 1G CBV on a 2G, and they're relatively inexpensive.

o a 1g would be fine i just want to buy every thing needed all togather.
