My 50 trim came with a tap in it for a boost pressure gauge. Is there a specific tap size or what are common tap sizes people use? Im just curious because I want to plug it for now.

If it's the boost source in the compressor housing, it's not for a boost gauge. That is a boost source for a boost controller. You should be using that over teeing into the BOV line anyway.

LOL, ok that I didnt know. But, my question is: What size are common for these taps?

I believe boost source taps are usually 1/8" NPT, BUT i havn't seen a 50trim lately to know for sure if thats whats in it. I just know thats whats come in a few things on my car.

WOOT! I knew that sounded right.

If you've already got the fitting on it, why do you need to know the size for a tap?

Also, PLEASE don't use this for a boost gauge, it's for a boost controller. Utilize it for it's intention and don't tee into the bov line.

LOL don't worry, im not using it for a boost gauge... its just tapped hole that I wanted to plug. There is no fitting in it and I believe its causing me alot of boost leak... correct me if i'm wrong... im not sure if this is a big cause or not. Thanks guys

My boost gauge is tapped into the P on the throttle body...thats a good spot isn't it?

Your running the turbo without the hole plugged? If so yes that would be a huge boost leak, get that sealed up ASAP as you will be working the turbo much harder trying to overcome that leak. The most common tap size is usually 1/8 NPT.

Yha, that would be a leak, LOL. You can install a air nipple (it probably came with one) in it and then cap that. Most liley 1/8th NPT (I know it has been said, I am just compunding his assurance). What are you using for your boost sorce? I run my wastegate off my Magnus, one direct line to the boost controller, no t's.

If you use a hose barb type fitting to plug it up you should consider cutting of some of the threaded portion before installing it so that there will be as little as possible of it protruding into the compressor housing so that airflow obstruction is minimized.

Or you could use a short bolt, then you won't have to cap anything off. I would also recommend wrapping the threads with teflon tape.

Ok, well I got the 1/8 npt plug in and put teflon tape on it. It seems to help. But, my exhaust still pops like a popcorn machine 4000rpm and up.. time for a boost leak test.
