Injector seals, BISS screw, valve cover?, and dipstick. There was a bolt on VC that blew bubbles, and on the left side of the valve cover, immediately to the right of the thermostat, blew bubbles.

Took the dip stick out and it popped out slightly due to pressure and I could hear air coming from inside the dip stick.

So:

1. Injector Seals
2. BISS Screw
3. Dipstick
4. Valve cover (gasket?)

Got the injector seals and BISS screw on the way, not too sure where I should start with the others.

Is it a complicated process to get under the VC? WIll I need to replace the gasket if I take it off for sure?

Also, please try to find me a picture :D <3

It's not really that complicated, just disconnect the spark plug wires off the plugs, take the hose off the PCV valve, take all of the bolts around the VC cover and from under the spark plug cover off, carefully lift it off of the head. Well if its leaking then it probably needs to be changed anyways.

Not hard to get under the VC, remove the plug wires, undo a handfull of bolts.

Soon as you lift up the VC, you will find the gasket.

Will you have to replace the VC gasket? That depends on the shape the gasket is in, if torn, ripped or brittle or hard then yes change it.

BTW where did you get the injector seals and biss?

I get the VC gasket, sorry I misunderstood VC for PVC.

I know hwo to do the VC, just not the PVC which is apparently causing my dipstick to leak.

Ahhhh PVC is a kind of pipe, used commonly for water.
I use it for plumbing the shop for compressed air. :D

You may mean the PCV for Positive Crankcase Ventalation

Just make sure when you put the VC back on after changing the gasket, you don't torque the bolts down to tight or you could strip the the holes in the head or crack the VC. I know that sounds obvious, but I just wanted to put that out there.

This is a good tip^^^^^^

Also, I didn't use rtv on the last vc gasket I did and it hasn't leaked on me yet.

I think some medium strenth threadlocker, or even rtv on the bolt in the valve cover, saying there's no noticeable broken chip.

I'm still kinda new to this forum thig so VC had me confused for a couple replies. If you wanna get her in real good shape. I've gotten head kits from PartSource for decent coin. Get it all at once

Op: Drop what youre doing, go to oreilly, napa, autozone and buy a haynes/chilton manual. Please. You sound like youre gonna get in a mess. Just grab the book and thatll help so much, i promise. GL

nah man, youre just beginning the journey. motors are the easy part, they've been the same for like over 50 years. Everything is a step-by-step process, then a step-by-step inverse of that process. take youre time, take notes, and put back everything exactly where it belongs and you'll have no problems. once you start changing things, thats when it becomes a headache. all dsm'ers can testify with that..

what you need for the BISS
#5-O-ring 3/8" OD x 1/4" ID x 1/16" #96722 :hellyeah:

pic 2: PCV valve circled.

Hope this helps.
