Well long story short: When I go WOT my boost continues to build until I let out of it. I tried porting the flapper hole and checked the wastegate for issues and it still does it. :idontknow:

Relevant Info:

-Turbo is a td06sl2 with a 3in inlet and td05 exhaust housing ported by MAPerformance
-Punishment Racing o2 housing (open dump) with Tial MVS 38mm referenced through the lower charge pipe (while I realize this is less than ideal, the compressor cover had no provision and I didn't feel comfortable drilling one.
-Boost is set at wastegate pressure of 14psi yet like I said earlier it just continues to build even after the dump tube starts screaming. Yet there is no noticeable difference in power from 14 to 24psi which makes me think boost leak.
-I have done boost leak tests to 20psi and only had a faint hiss from my shaft seals

I'm at a total loss ..could my wastegate be causing the issue even though it is opening at 14psi?

Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance!

Are you sure you have a a 14 psi spring. It wouldn't be the first time someone ordered a waste gate and got a different spring set than the ordered.

See what color spring you have or springs and reference trials website.

Tial shipped me all the springs then I installed the black/red combo to equal 14psi. The wastegate is opening at 14psi so I know the springs are correct..It just doesn't seem to be dumping air fast enough and the turbo keeps building boost.

How do you know the waste gate is opening? Maybe it is hanging up? What you are describing is boost creep but there is no reason it should be creeping.

Well, if you ported thehousing, have the right springs, and have it hooked up right, then all the obvious bases are covered. I missed that u have an open dump. Since o you can hear it open at 14psi that rules out springs, install, boost controller etc. You probably have defective machining that is limiting valve travel. It seems like this had become fairly common with trial. I myself have had to return 2 of 4 that I have owned for repairsof defects. the MVR that I have now is going to be my last trial ever. Turbosmarts are much smaller physically anyways. If you search, you'll find quite a few others who had trials with machining flaws.

Ohh yea pressure test it And che k the valve travel. That is your problem I bet.

Ok well I'll try pressure testing it and if that is the issue hopefully PR/Tial will take care of me.

It may have internal leaks too but it is opening at 14psi. You need to check valve travel specifically.

You wouldn't happen to know what is considered "in spec" for the MVS would you?
No i wouldn't sorry. I would call trials tech line. Their quality control may suck these days, but their customer service/support is good.

Well after going back and forth with Tech I removed one spring and wouldn't you know.....it worked! I left just the .6 bar black spring in and sure enough the car held pretty damn steady at around 8psi. Now I'm waiting for a response from Tial explaining why I was having issues with the spring combination.

Yea their product support is pretty good. In my opinion though, in this market of $100 knock off wastwgates, they need to step up the consistency on their products. You shouldn't be having these issues with your valve. The Chinese products are getting more and more sophisticated. And eventually they are going to have this stuff down and make a good product for cheap. Its really obvious when a wasyegaye is defective, but BOV its not so obvious. I wounded how many tial bov out there have machining issues and the owner doesn't even know. A lot of people with greddy type s for example have them set up totally wrong and they never even know its not working properly.
