im looking to buy a boost guage and a boost controller. i was thinking about an autometer but was sure which one. as for the mbc, i was thinkin the hallman pro series. if anyone has any comments or advice i would appreciate it. and also does anyone knows where i can find a good boost guage and mbc for a decent price?

I would recommend Autometer gauges...I personally have a Nexus Series Boost gauge at the moment which I love. Previously had a Autometer Phantom Series that worked well. I have no experience with a manual boost controller, but my buddies that use them are satisfied with their Hallman products. A lot of people suggest that mechanical gauges are more accurate but with the advancements in technology I have found my Nexus gauges to be just as accurate. Autometer all the way for me. Just my Opinion. :D

Yep I've got the Autometer Pro Comp Ultra Lite series Boost and Oil pressure. As for the MBC I've used everything from the DejonPowerhouse unit to one I made from the hardware store to the one I have now from SBR. They all worked great. Just don't spend too much on them since they are a relatively simple item to make.

Mechanical. If you feel inclined to get an electrical, you may as well get an electronic boost controller, it doubles as both.

A boost gauge is not really a critical item. They don't really fail, and you'll be going too fast to get an accurate idea of how much boost you are running. I glance at mine when things go wrong to see if I'm getting fuel cut or if something else is wrong, otherwise it's just there.

The home depot boost controller works great. I used a high performance light weight composite ball and an ultra precision spring for mine (glow in the dark airsoft pellet and spring from pen). Hard to mess up if you follow the guide in the write up section.

I have an Auto Meter Cobalt Series boost gauge and LOVE it. I prevously had an Auto Meter Phantom series, which worked extremely well, also. I do see a difference between the two, though (not just the cooler look on the Cobalt one). The Cobalt series gauges seems to, well, just work better. The needle seems to literally glide extremely smooth, no sketchiness or jerking, nothing. The Phantom gauge, like I mentioned, worked well also, just didn't 'flow' as flawlessly as the Cobaly gauge. Besides, the Cobalt gauge looks way better, IMO.

As for the boost controller, I have just a standard manual Hallman B/C. Works very, very well. The only problem I've EVER had with it was I had my boost set at ~16 psi for a LONG time, never touched the B/C. One night I decided to turn the boost up a hair, and the nut was literally seized to the B/C so I wasn't able to adjust it. Had to pull the entire thing out, put it in a vise, spray the hell out of it with PB Blaster and break it loose. but since then, it works like a charm again :hellyeah:

thanks for the advice and opinions guys. really appreciate it!! im out to go buy the guage and boost controller in a few, and hopefully ill be spoolin by later tonight!!!
