ok friday was in a big scramble to get a mbc and boost gauge installed before the night time races, but in the process of installing the boost gauge we crimped the tubing up, so we had to cut it off.

in a mad attempt to make it work, we connected it to another type of hose for a temp solution, and zip tied it.

everything worked and the numbers seemed right (20 vac, about 11psi) but it sounded like there was leaks.

the thing is the leaks sounded like they were coming from where it connects to the gauge, not the fitting.

has the mild sucking noise on vac and when I hit the boost it makes the PSH PSH PSH repeatedly, but loudly and my friend said his never made that much noise.

I installed the things how the diagram said but I dont know how id stop a leak like that, or is it normal?

btw autometer sport comp 2 1/16"

throw that plastic tubing away and get a real vac line from your local autoparts store and use that instead.

are you talking about the tubing that came with the gauge as the "plastic tubing" or what I used to make it work, I was going to go and buy a replacement tube that came with the meter, I think its 1/8" nylon tubing with the ferrules or whatever they called, or should I get something entirely new?

Use some rubber type hose. The same type you use with the MBC. That nylon stuff is pure crap. :thumb:

I dont know if you can, because where it goes into the gauge is really small, but im sure something could be rigged, i think im just going to try and find more of the nylon (can hold 200psi)

but back to the main question I guess, if everything is hooked up right will I still hear air entering the gauge? or should I be silent?

That was just an example of the material type of tubing. You can find them in diff. sizes.

As for the noise, mine has NEVER made any noise. There might be a hairline crack where the gauge and the fitting meet. Take it out and inspect aroundthe fitting/gauge connecting area.

Yea i would get the rubber hose. It's very cheap and much better than that plastic straw that comes with it.

Just take a piece of that nylon cord to the autozone near you and compare that with a string of rubber.
