Boost Gauge Inaccuracy??

just curious does anyone elses boost gauge read 1-2psi when the motor is shut off.. both mine and a buddy of mines read about 1 or 2psi when the motor is off.. would our gauges stillbe accurate like lets say it says im boosting 17psi-2psi inaccuracy so would that be 15psi? i dont know if i should just buy another one or just keep this one.. its an autometer ultra-light

If it reads anything other than zero while its off the internal workings must be damaged and its accuracy is in question. if you can hook regulated compressed air directly to it to test it you can confirm its accuracy, just don't blast 120psi into it by accident. Its possible that 1-2psi at rest is more at say "20" psi boost.

Hey, I have an autometer ultralite. It reads about 1 psi at rest. I've asked a few people around here and they all say to treat that as zero. Just take 1psi of any reading. It came new that way. I looked at few other new autometer boost gauges and they all read high at rest. Weird. I might to a pressure test to see its true accuracy though like Gigaah said.

Obviously there is something wrong or the scale was twisted at the factory. I'd be ripping pissed if I purchased one that was like that.

A gages only purpose is to accuratly display a reading..if it doesn't do that its worthless imho. I just like everything to be how it should be, maybe it doesn't bother others as much.

i agree it came that why though and i never really thought about it much till the other day i noticed that everytime i shut my car off it read like that.. does autometer warrenty any of there stuff??

Yes Auto-meter warranties ALL their work and i would sent that s!@# back ASAP
