Hi,

I've got a 91 Eclipse with the stock turbo and everything that goes along with it. Someone said if they shimmed my wastegate it would give me more boost without messing anything up. That's all good because for several weeks I could boost 14 pounds and run pretty good. A few days ago I got in it and noticed it was only doing 9 lbs. I run Amoco Super Unleaded for gas. A night or two later the boost came back, then the following day and ever since it is still at 9 lbs.

My BOV is still stock, as is everything else. I only have a boost gauge right now.

Can anyone tell me why it would do that and what I may check to make sure things are still good to go?

Thanks

It's the 14 that came on that car. I know when I stayed in it up to about 6400 it would drop off some. I was told that's because the turbo is running out. It's just not getting past 9 lbs at all right now.

Thanks

I would check the bov first, see if its leaking. Then check for other leaks before investing in a new turbo. Do everything you can as far as free maintenence goes first, then move on to the bigger things

are you going off the stock boost gauge or a real one? you are prob running more boost then that, the stock one doesnt do crap (not a real boost reading)

edit = saw that you do have a boost gauge... check for boost leaks... or get a logger, you could be knocking and the bcs is pulling back some boost.

I think it began after I tried someone's BOV. It's okay now and has been for a week or so, but it's still something to check out.

I am going to check on the logger if I can find one cheap enough. I've got the things to make the cable, but the Palm Pro isn't going to cut it.

Thanks for the replies.
