Vancouver,
I did the free mods today:D

Cutout the Air-Box, Got the star silencer thing out, got the lower honey comb out and the little restrictor from the BCS. For some strange reason my boost dropped 2psi, from what it was before free mods, is that common?

I mean I feel the improvement in trottle responce and bit more top end power, but my stock gauge shows lower boost. I did disconect the big vacume line from BCS and I was able to run higher boost around 2-3 pounds higher than it was before free mods, around 13PSI to be exact(but that's with BCS diconnected)

So I am under impression that once I opened up the Air-flow ECU is opening BCS sooner because it sees more Air and therefore I am runing bit lower boost with BCS connected.

Am I right? I did check to make sure no lines were diconnected after I did free mods.

thankx for any input

That's your problem. The stock gauge doesn't actually read the pressure, but it takes inputs from various sensors and the ECU determines what the boost pressure it based on their inputs. As you mod your car the stock gauge will be even more inaccurate than how it was at stock level.

Get a real boost gauge and you'll see the difference. Removing the BCS restriction will add about 2psi. When I did that mod on my Laser I topped out at 13psi.

So how much boost Am I runing wiht BCS disconnected, I ran it like that for tonight and only 4-6 pases at full boost.

Connected the boost gauge and checked the boost levels, came out as follows:

1. With BCS connected I get 9PSI

2. With BCS bigger line disconnected I get 15PSI

So I'll check my timing tonight see if it's good, just to make sure it's not beeing retatrded. Decided to run 9PSI for now untill I get my exhaust and intercooler pipes made up and install Greaddy MBC with HKS BOV.

Just run a line from the wastegate actuator to the nipple on the ic pipe. That way, you can see what psi the actuator is opening at, and then find the problem from there.

Stage1 mods should be:

Boost gauge

thats it.
