I know in the tech guide there is an upgrade path. I'm trying my best to follow but it isn't goign to happen. I came across a few deals on some upgrades and I was curious to know if i could have the mods on without a boost controller? Will i run into any problems? Currently i have an autometer boost gauge, and a K&N FIPK. I just got the intake pipe (turbo to MAS), 1g bov, and the dejon tool uicp on the way. Can i just run these mods without a boost controller? I'm not going to have any boost spikes or creep will I? If it's recommended, then i'll wait to get the boost controller until i install the mods.

You can, but some mods may increase your boost levels. I don't think they'll increase it to a dangerous level, but its safe to spend the 50 bucks and get a Joe. P or something.

You will be fine. It is not necessary to have a manual or electronic boost controller in the position you are in. Make sure there's no leaks on the bov and it should hold the same stock boost (check with your boost gauge when you install the parts).

So wait on the MBC and when you get it don't boost too much on the T25. T25 are not good turbos to boost on. Upgrade the turbo, fuel support mods, tune and you can boost 18+psi :thumb:

You guys (not you GreddyGst) are confused about what exactly a boost controller does...

Boost controllers operate by delaying boost signals to the wastegate, thus raising or lowering boost past what the stock wastegate is set at. For instance, if your wastegate is set to open at 10 psi, the boost controller will allow you to boost at any pressure higher than 10 psi - but not lower than that.

It doesn't "control" boost in the sense that it prevents boost creep or boost spikes.

No modifications you do should increase your boost levels unless that modification is a boost controller.

When you need boost controll go with a part from grainger...

They have some nice adj bypass regulators with PSI markings on its click adjustable knob..

Thanks for the replies and info. I have no intention of overdoing it on boost, i want this car to be reliable....:p

I'm still fairly new to dsm's, learnin real fast though. THanks a bunch!

Exhaust is the only real magor cause of boostcreep/spike. Those mods will do you just fine with no problems at all.

Slapping on that intake and 1G bov will make a nice difference. You will be happy.

Its grainger # 4TY38 you will be looking for on the MBC... Plus two thread in barbs.
