bolt dropped in transmission

So...i'm a dumbass and dropped the 10mm speedo screw into the hole...it seemed to fall deep into the tranny and i can't wiggle it out...I've also tried using a magnet! but no luck...

So i'm wondering if theres anyway to take the case off without pulling gears? And if i have to pull gears and strip the tranny down what tools do i need? Do i need a press? I'm really pissed off at this damn screw.

Bring down the Trannhy and turn it upside down, so the Bolt can find the way out by it self.

Other wise, Just open the case which all what you need is a 36mm Socket to take off the 2 Nuts (inside the Tranny).
You don't need anything else, everything is EASY.

It's down and i've tried to shake it out.

Can you walk me through a little more slower on how to split it without taking the gears out? I've looked at the vfaq and it's quite overwhelming. Transmissions are the one thing i have yet to open up and work on. And for good reason...

I forgot to tell you.

Before you take it apart, put it upside down and try to rotate the gears of the Tranny, If the bolt got stack at the dif Gear, then it will loose up.

Try to rotate the gears on both directions, But if it gets Stack,,, (DO NOT, DO NOT FORCE IT), You can brake a tooth from the differential or the Speed gear.

If it looses, then you will save some headache and time.

yea if it fell down the speedo hole, in my experience that should be connected right to/by the differential which is a huge gear looking thing. Once you pull that case off it will be right there. Don't be scared, the bolt should be right by that.

WOOOOOOOOO!!

I put on my old clutch disk to spin it and got it to wiggle out! Thanks guys, guess i'll be taking apart a tranny another day!

Sadly though (it's a used tranny i got off here...) 4th feels notchy. But we'll see what i can do about that.
