BodyKit Vs. Wind ?

I just installed a new body kit for my car. My car is lowered with a blitz front and bomex (bmx) rear. Its fiberglass so im kinda worried about reliability. Plus I did a Talon/Eclipse Conversion so i had to build my own brackets. My front is fine, but what are the chances of wind passing under the car and turning my rear kit into a parachute and basically ripping it off. Do i need to make sure its VERY secure in the back or does wind not really touch the rear bumpers? Should I be worried? My homemade brackets are decent but I would really like some reassurance or some factual information on what kind of wind resistance it faces. Since the point of a body kit is aerodynamics, I cant imagine it would be that much but im just not sure. Also if anybody could tell me about the kind of forces excerted on my kit by doing things like drifting or taking tight corners. My rear kit fit on VERY tightly, and by taking corners fast do I risk snapping it? Maybe that's a really dumb question (if it is feel free to flame me) Thanks for any help.

First off...everyone has to start somewhere. We were all newbs at one point...so dont worry to much about asking dumb questions that's why it's a newb forum. However, I would have spent the money on the engine upgrades...but that's me. Anyway...pack to the point....A good way to see if the bumper will hold up is easy enough....Compare it to the stock one. How does it hold in reference to the stock one. Does it seem to be on as tight? Does it flex, or move? Movement is something you dont want. But then again try not to tighten the bolts too tight as to crack the FG.

Plus you could always just drive it around some at night when it is not busy to see if it's going to fall off...as a last option of course.

I broke a bracket section off my back Blitz fiberglass bumper at 125mph. Bomez isn't as parachute-y so I'm sure it will hold up good.

You could also fabricate up a rear wind difusser (sp?) like what the RX7s and Skylines have.

ive been riding highway speeds with my blitz rear on for about a year now with no problems. I fabricated two brackets that connect the rear bumper to the bottom bracket that are on the spare tire well. I also used all the stock mounting locations on the rear fenders and under the tailights. I havent had any problems thus far. As long as you still have your wheel well covers in place and have the bottom of your bumper bolted to the spare tire well i think you should be ok. just PM me and ill shoot you some pics if youd like.

It would have to be designed to where no air can get above it, something that will take a bit of modification to achieve. I've looked into doing this, it's possible, but time-consuming.

A quick fix would be to drill some holes in the rear bumper cover, that way air being trapped by it has an avenue of escape. People think I'm crazy for doing it to my car, but I don't complain about the extra stability, which was noticeable.

If you want it to look good, there are companies that sell CF templates that you can install on your bumper cover. Simply trace the holes in them, cut them, then install the template to give yourself a clean looking hole. I'm poor, and elected not to go this route

Sure. I'd put more holes higher up, but I think I'll just save up for the templates, cuz the holes I drilled look pretty ghetto. At least they serve their purpose. Pardon all the dust, believe it or not I washed it yesterday, but that's life in CA.

Here's a pic of the kit I put on...

I have it bolted with 6 bolts in the back and 1 on each side of where it wraps around the sides of the body. There's two holes on the sides and i could only get 1 bolt in on each of them. This is why im worried. I also have it bolted 2 times into the bottom of the spare tire thing.
The kit is on very tight and doesnt move at all. But if the fiberglass rips where I have the 1 bolt on each side im worried itll fly off on me. Any comments?

i have a full blitz on mine. ive taken mine upto 120 mph and have never had no probs. its been 2 years and its still on. its fiberglass aswell. its been through the usual. dragin, on a rollback thought that was going to rip it off but it didnt. the chains screwed up my axle though, during turns it does rub sometimes when i take to tight. only prob that the paint has come off on the lower part of the rear bumper.
