1. What was routed to the catch can? Breather? PCV? How is it routed in detail including usage of T fittings.

2. When you had the head off, did you see oil/gunk in the intake and exhaust runners? In other words, did you check the valve seals?

3. Perform a compression test both dry and wet and post back results.

4. Was the dipstick popping before this catch can thing or after?

5. Have you pulled the intake pipe and verified the oil under the turbo is in fact coming from inside and not the feedline? While you're at it, check it for shaftplay.

6. Is your dipstick tube pinched shut?

You're most likely correct that excessive crankcase pressure is the problem but the question is where are the excessive pressure coming from.
 
I have a 91 Talon TSI FWD that also has the same kind of play in turbo shaft. I have no smoke and no oil in IC car runs fine and boost set at 17 inches. I contacted Mitsubishi, who made the turbo and they told me that the up and down(vertical play) was normal because the bearing are supported by oil pressure when the car is running. Mits told me that in and out end play was what to look for. If there was any movement in or out, as opposed to up and down, then there was a problem with the turbo. If anybody knows differently please advise

Turbo is done but it's just one of the results of excessive crankcase pressure, If you don't figure out why, your next new turbo will look just like that in no time.

Now, pcv could still be ####ed, gonna check that next. I don't see how my motor could be worn so much already that im getting super blowby. I just changed the motor haha.
