Blue smoke in between shifts

ok so this just strarted today i got some blue smoke between shifts. did a compression test i got 155 across the board. even when i do get on it and start to boost the car barley goes anywhere. and i hear a winning sound under boost almost like a super charger. My bottome end has about 12k on it and my head was just done about 5k ago new seals guides, reground valves the works...Help me.......I am running a 14b 3in turbo back and an intake pipe.

sounds like a dying turbo.

When my brother first got his DSM (92 talon TSi AWD 6/4) he had the same issue, minus the blue smoke. He had the "whine' when the turbo spooled rather than a nice "hiss".

We took his intake off and found that his compressor blades were all screwed up, looked like it sucked in a rock or something and the previous owner just decided to sell it.

My guess is that your turbo is starting to go bad and you could have a few slightly bent compressor fins.

happened to me on a few 14b's, and t-25, and a 16g now.. turbo is bad.. to make sure just check for shaft play

yea thats what i thought im gonna check the shaft play tomorrow and see if there is oil in my uicp and its not your normal burnt oil smell it smells kinda sweet and its a little white also. and i hate buying a used turbo ### you never kno what ## gonna get. bought one once before put it on and it was blown the second day. and there is no oil in my coolant and no coolant in my oil.

the smoke almost smells like a candle when you blow it out if that means anything to anyone. i was thinking mabey the HG too but im not even seeing temps over 190. and i just drove it again and it like its smoking almost all the time now.

my car actually does the same thing right now... i mean yeah the compressor wheel can chip and break and stuff and fly through the motor tearing crap up but i drive my car with the blown turbo cause i have to i just dont let it get in boost just take it nice and slow and you should be ok for a while if you have to drive it

and im not too sure about the smell but i know of ppl who can tell when their turbo is blown by the smell i would ask them for you but dont really talk to them so either way im sure its blown brah

i think your good on the HG just have someone stand back there when you start it up to tell you if chocholate milk dumps out the exhaust i think your ok but you can check just to make sure

I'm gonna throw a different opinion on this ... You did a lower end at 12k miles ago and the top end at 5k miles ago. Did your rings ever get seated correctly, for blowing blue between shifts looks to me that the rings, esp the oil rings didn't get seated correctly and when you suddenly close the throttle, oil is being pulled up past the rings and getting burned off due to sudden vacuum increase due to a stronger rebuilt head which is doing a great job in keeping things real tight and not letting anything go past them.

Also, what RPM's are you at when you do your shift points? If you're close to redline, I can easily see blue coming out between shifts...

Just a two cents idea to look into ....

Dying turbo if it sounds like a supercharger, probably has bent fins from shaft play.

like i said 155 compression across the board and i am smoking at lower rpms not so much at higher rpms.

Smoke is coming from the hood yes?

You will be more prone to smoking at lower RPMs because the oil pressure is lower and more gets burned. Higher RPMs it flows so fast that it's back in the return before it burns.

I def. agree on the dying turbo thing. I know when my T-25 at the gasket that was around it, it def. made that sound, no smoke though.

well for you guys that agreed it was the turbo we are ruling that out because i just pulled off my intake pipe and the turbo has about 1/2in to 3/4 of an inch play deff turbo!!
