your opinions please. looks like detonation lifted the head...which is what caused the failure. head is going to the machine shop to get checked out...then it'll go back together this week.

felpro headgasket...pics of possible failure. i'm guessing i got a little too aggressive with the alcohol...

i'm going to run a mitsu metal headgasket this time around...i bought the engine with the felpro.

Indeed looks like detonation and/or knock.
Metal HG sounds good.
I would strongly recomend buying a cheap logger also if you don't have one already.
