I blew up the engine in my 97 spyder turbo and i have no $$ :shhh: . I've been looking all around but its hard as hell to find another engine. The Mitsu place will sell me one for 6k, but there has to be something else out there i can do. The engine is not rebuildable. Does anybody know any sites that sells used engines, or cheap j-spec engines?? The car has been sitting since last oct.

Do you want a 6 bolt swap or a stock replacement?
dsmtrader.com is pretty good, so is the ad section here too.
If all else fails, I have my stock 7 bolt sitting in my garage.

yeah im not really worried about swapping to a 6bolt, if you're interested in selling your old engine send me a tell with mileage/price etc. Thx for the reply :)

yeah i've been waiting to look through DSMtrader.com but i keep getting an "internal server error", i guess i'll just have to go spend christmas eve with my family and wait till tomorrow  :p

If you decide to just get a 7-bolt I'll have mine available till about the new year. Its got rod knock but everything else should be in good shape. Just a spun bearing.... if you have it rebuilt that would take care of everything..... $500+work out some shipping.

if i do a 6bolt swap, should i go with a 1g head or a 2g head? the only thing that worries me about doing a 6bolt swap is the only shop around here that could do it properly would be the mitsu place. There arnt really very many credible shops around where i live. Maybe if i drove up to charlotte but i dunno. It seems like the better choice but then my main ? would be where to get it done at.

You can use your existing head, you just need to ream the bolt holes because the 6 bolt motor uses bigger head bolts.
The swap is pretty easy and makes more sense that fixing known junk only to have it fail again. I'd start asking other locals who are into imports, where to get service done and also start researching the subject yourself because it's not that hard.
