So I bought this car from a guy who didn't know much about cars (but neither do I in all honesty) and it has this blow off valve on it. I'm not sure if it is the stock one or some POS. Anywho, I don't get the turbo "pffff," I get a chirp. If I'm correct, after looking at some posts, that appears to be the sound of air flowing the wrong way into the turbo and spinning the turbine backwards. Correct me if I'm wrong. Do you know anything about a BOV like this? I plan on going to a Summit warehouse next weekend and I want to know if I need a new BOV.

Thanks

That's some eBay knock off BOV. It's probably garbage. Air flowing back into your compressor sounds more like a flutter than a chirp. Without hearing the noise ourselves it is hard to tell you much.

It's a knock off SSQV. Don't be concerned about what sound a BOV makes as long as it's functioning properly.

An audio clip would be much better determing the sound you are concerned about as all BOVs made a different noise due to design differences.

If you want a solid BOV get either a 1g BOV or a TiAL.

So I just took it out for a drive and I feel like a moron. It worked fine when I'm going hard through the gears. The only time I hear this "flutter" is lower psi (about less than 5 psi). In the higher range, it sounds fine, making the classic turbo pfff. Sorry for wasting your time everybody. Thanks everybody

I know the flutter on greddy or adjustable bovs can give a flutter if they are adjusted too tight. Not 100%, but dont think you can adjust a hks. But i got a real HKS SSQv black edition, for sale.

The flutter you are hearing at low PSI is normal. I would still suggest you to get a better BOV however that is not a knock off of a kinda crappy design.

Take it to PM's, no trading to be posted in the forum unless it's in the local forum or the classifieds.

i just got a greddy knock off, looked at materials and insides and it seems identical and it seems just as srong as the flapper in the greddy.

Mine makes a Pff followed by a chirp sound (its a greddy R/s/ss it seems and seems to be a solid knockoff)
