Alright, so after 1 ecu and 1 alternator in 1 week I have tracked down the bane of my existence this paycheck to my power steering pump. Namely the leak coming from the pully shaft. Anyways to make a long story short i've got the new one on and for the life of me I can't seem to get the thing bled, I've jacked the wheels off of the ground and i'm turning the wheels from lock to lock and holding them for about 15 seconds apiece while cranking the motor over a couple of times everytime I hit a lock. Now i've done this about 20 or so times and still i'm getting more and more air bubbling out of my resivoir, and holy-christ-god-in-heaven if you try to start the engine. I thought I had it done about an hour ago and went to start her up drive back to my apartment and it was like a sode can was over flowing foamy orange oil from under my hood. Anybody have any tip or ideas on what i'm doing wrong?:talon:

Cliffs:
  • Installed new powersteering pump
  • Can't get it bled
  • Need help
  • Wife will kill me if she has to keep driving me to work

LOL Are you trying to bleed it without the engine on? You don't need to jack up the wheels, drop the wheels, open the resovoir, turn the engine on and repeat the lock to lock method you described above.

I just did this to my Galant and it went smoothly. It sounds like you're doing it correctly. Here's a picture from the service manual on bleeding the system.

Oh well, I never read the FSM for this nor have I ever jack up the front end and it has always worked for me but if the FSM said so, I stand corrected. :coy:

Niether have I Odman. I bleed them on the ground while running.

I just opened my Haynes and it said to bleed on the ground with the engine on, my FSM is at work so I will have to double check what it says on Monday unless someone else can verified.

I checked my book here and this is what I found. Sounds to me it is saying start with one and end with the other procedure.

So, Should I not worry about the soda gush of fluid from the resovoir while the car is on if I try to bleed it while it's running?
