Does the rear balace shaft(off oil pump) bearing need to be in place? I'am asking because, upon removal of the balance shaft, the bearing had spun and has come out with the balance shaft. IMO in doesnt really seem like the bearing is needed because there is no oil passage to the bearing since the shaft is self lubricating, right?

Simply put, if you are eliminating the balance shafts you will not need it. You will not lose oil pressure. If you are keeping the balance shafts you will need it, but it sounds like the hole for the bearing is over rounded, as I have always had to hammer them out. Never saw one just come out with the BS.

The only one that affects oil pressure is the front one behind the balance shaft gear. You can replace it with one that does not have the oil to increase oil pressure a little. And I have seen a bearing come out with the shaft. But that was the least of my problems on the motor. ROFL
