Bizarre axle issue

Hey everyone, maybe someone can shed some light on this puzzling problem. I am replacing my clutch and thought it would be good to replace the drivers side axle as well because it was clicking. I went to napa because they had a pretty good price ($66 and a $56 core) and ordered a AWD drivers side front axle. Well, I picked it up and it was clearly not the right one. This one had a female end on the side where it goes into the trans. It was also a couple feet too short!

SOOOO, they ordered another one, figuring that one was boxed wrong. The same one came!!! I went to Advance auto as well as Autozone with the same results.

What the heck is going on??? Do I need to order a fwd half shaft? Thanks in advance

I have the same problem when ordering CV axles... they always send the damn FWD crap. Takes a lot of returns and hunting to get the right one.

Hey where in the CHI do you live. I also live in the CHI I just replace both of the axels with no problem. I ordered them from Team 1 dont know if your familar with that auto parts place. I forgot how much it was but lifetime warranty

Does anyone have a pic of a FWD axle? I wanted to compare it to what they gave me. Thanks

I think I figured it out. The axle they gave me was only the part from the carrier bearing to the wheel. Anyone know how to detach the shaft that goes from the trans. to the carrier bearing from the shaft that goes to the wheel? I'll try and post a pic later to help you understand

Here's a pic. How do I get the part that is circled yellow apart from the part circled in blue? OR, what is the name of the part circled in yellow? I have the blue part but not the yellow one. I really need some help here. Thanks in advance.
