Hey guys,
My 1990 GSX is screwed :thumbdown . I was driving today after the first snowfall and when i went to put it into second gear there was nothing there. Just poppped right back into neutral. So after freaking out i played with the shifter a bit and now it stays in 1st, 3rd, and fifth, and sometimes 2nd and 4th. Reverse there is no way i can get it to stay. Even with the shifter all the way back holding in reverse i get nothing. I belive the previous owner got this tranny either rebuilt or replaced. The only other sidenote is that i have those metal shifter bushings. After racking my brain i feel like a synchro came off of the shift fork maybe i don't know i just need help. Any advice will be much appreciated. :dsm:

Make sure the bracket that holds the shift cables on the transmission is not loose. Thats one of the big causes of only being able to get into top (1-3-5) or bottom (2-4-r) gears.

Thank you arnie, where would i find the bracket? the same place where i installed the shifter bushings?? I heard that i may have stretched the cable or something like that. So try where the cables attach to tranny and not the cables coming into the shifter?
