Well I have been worried about my top because the passenger side sticks up higher than the drivers side when the top is down. So than I looked at the how to about the elastic problem. I went out and looked at mine and I noticed that not only do I not have elastics that someone had hooked my links to the floating rib with twist tie. What should I do to fix this problem? Here are some pictures.

Please tell me there is a way to fix this. Maybe this has something to do with the excessive rattleing on the highway?

Thanks
Tom

Okay is the link supposed to be that bent like that? I really hope that this doesnt meen I need a new top.

If i bend them back a bit will it ruin them? Can you just replace the control arms?

god damn!! you make 2 posts and you post 3 times in your own post! LOL...but yea if you've read my other reply in the other post, the bar i was telling you about is the black one you can see in the 2nd pic you posted on this page....it may not be connected or fitting right on both sides. before i knew about those bars, i would have to put the top 9/10ths of the way down and go around and tuck the cloth down so it would fit properly.

and yes, it should be bent and twisted and if you look @ how they are connected to the rails themselves, no i dont think you can replace them...

as long as they are connected to the ribs, it doesnt matter if its ziptied, glued, taped (LOL) on there, just make sure they are on! (but do make sure its SECURE)

The clips on the top itself tend to get loose. I've noticed that on my spyder too, and that causes that rattling on the freeway. So for the rattling, check if those are loose. As for the bars, there's like 2 or 3 bars in that assembly held together by some hex head screws. I'm not seeing the second one in your pics so it might have gotten loose and swung back down. The elastics help and are usually clipped to the bar but I tied mine down to the bar itself (I dropped the clip trying to reattach it hehe) and everything's been closing up nicely. I haven't looked at mine in a while so I'll double check mine for the details when i get off of work and see if I can't get some pictures of how mine is so you can reference.
