Im checking wiki and coming up with a curb weight of 2782? That sound right? I thought they would be lighter considering the size. Theyre like gokarts.
You should start a build thread. Im sure alot of us would be very interested. These have always been cool little cars in my book.

A guy south of me has two MR2 Turbos, both in beautiful shape. He wont sell them though. One of the biggest reasons I love them is that they were completely different in appearance from any other cars on the market during that time.

That's a nice buy, car looks in good shape.

Man whatever happened to yours?

When I had purchased the car, it had been sitting in some old mans yard for a long time. I noticed it about 8 months before buying it. When he fianlly let it go, I had been DDing the car and fixing every thing I could.

I later found out that rust/rot had taken its toll. The uni-body was completely shot. You literally couldn't even align the car.

Selling it was very hard to do. But finding a clean All-Trac shell...even harder and they aren't cheap! I ended up selling it and making good money of it.

Probably the most rare car I will ever own.

I enjoyed the link. Thanks for sharing. Car looks awesome. Funny how celica had top mount intercooler with no intercooler fan but mr2 has side mount intercooler with a intercooler fan. Strange.

Any suggestions for a turbo guys? Or is a ct27 worth using? It looks so so so small. Maybe I'm just to used to lookin at HX family of turbos...

Like WES_393 said, the current turbo is very capable of 300hp. Many of the guys at 3sgte.com and alltrac.net have found GREAT gains installing an exhaust and MBC with a little more boost.

On the All-Trac the Catconverter was in the downpipe about 5 inches down from the turbo. Not sure of the exhaust setup on the MR2, but when I installed a 3 inch DP with no cat, the car was a completely new animal.

Ive had these pictures in my laptop for a few days just been lazy to find much internet time in the last few days. Anywho, check out these con-rods, Mitsubishi eat your heart out! The Toyota rods have alot more meat on the bone, the Toyota oil squirters apear to be larger as well. The cylinder head aint quite as big as Mitsu, but its very close. The block and crank.... My vote goes to Mitsubishi but the Toyota is VERY close.

All in all, id say the 3SGTE is indeed the very next best thing to a 4G63. Ive personally had SR20 engine opem, Honda B, D, and H engines opened up, no 4cylinder comes close to a DSM 6-bolt, well, i think i just found the next best thing. Just wanted to share with you all that the 3S rumors are true. THOSE SUCKERS ARE MEATY!

I'll be ordering a rebuild kit and having certain parts dropped off to a trust worthy machine shop man this week. I'll be puttin this sucker back together with a few tricks up the sleeve. 300wheel-horse should make this sucker very fast :)

toyota rod has piston on top of it, mitsu rod is all alone, check out the side by side shot!

got my crank dropped off to be micro-polished, i checked the block and headgasket surface my self, then had a old grey haired mechanic of 30+ years experience at my work also double check headgasket surfaces. theyre good to go! just gotta clean it up. its ovbious it was recently at a machine shop. the block measures out to be twenty over (half a milimeter over bore) and the head has signs and clues left behind from it being freshly surfaced. the cross hatching in the cylinder walls look awesome. i bassically tore it all down for my own peice of mind plus the curiosity of the size of the toyota guts was eatin at me! i just had to see 'em for myself!
