So today I tried to vacuum my trunk out and it did not go well. I have a decent amount of tiny dried grass clippings and they will not come out! What is the best way to clean the carpet/felt in the trunk. I'm afraid of damaging it if I get too aggressive. And I also have some small stains I need to remove... So how do you guys clean that thin trunk carpet without tearing it up?

Thank you.

It has a thin plastic backing, so you shouldn't be able to tear it up all that easily. To get hair and other small fibers out of felt and carpet I use a brush with rubber fingers. The rubber fingers create a lot of friction and pull out the debris so you can vacuum them out. As for stains, get some white terry cloth towels and a stiff bristle brush, paired up with some Tuff Stuff foam spray and it should get almost everything cleaned up in the car.

I actually have a can of Tuff Stuff. Will report back when finished.

Any carpet cleaner or degreaser(like dish soap) should be fine as well, again with a stiff bristle brush and a rag to wipe up any excess.

Remove the carpet and hang it over a railing and blow the grass out with compressed air. This is what we do in the detailing shop at work. It's very effective and will not tear the carpet up. For any stains, I recommend Spot Shot carpet cleaner. You can get it at walmart for $3.50 a can. I have cleaned some nasty shit out of cars with Spot Shot.
