I've ordered a ton of stuff lately, still waiting for some of it to arrive, but I'm trying to decide what to do about my intercooler. Basically I'll have an Evo 16g, 650's, 190lph, dejontool blowby uicp w/gm maft, and the rest of the supporting mods etc. I'm hoping to eventually boost 20-22psi on pump 93.

So... What's the max boost I could push with my smic with the uicp? If I upgrade my IC, what ones are the best bang for the buck and would let me efficiently boost that much? Right now I'm looking at a few... Either the dejontool smic, alamo smic, dejontool street fmic (2 smic's welded together), or the dejontool racing fmic. If possible, I'd like to keep the costs down to around 600-700 including piping.

If I go smic, all I'd need are couplers, right? Would they flow enough? Ideally I'd like an fmic, but they're pricier. However, the street fmic supposedly bolts on to the existing uicp and licp's using the included piping (no extra cost!).

What do you guys think? Thanks!
 
I have the dejon tool street FMIC, bolts right up in place of the SMIC, takes about 5 minutes to put on once the front end is off. I'm running a big 16 and haven't had any problems with heat soaking yet, but I live in wisconsin and it's still pretty cool up here. But even on the couple of warmer days here...no problems yet. I did have to cut the support beam that comes down from the piece around the hood latch ( the one your center of your bumper bolts to) to get it to lay down flat, i cut it tight and angled so it matches the shape of the top of the IC, took 2 seconds with a whizzer though. I'm happy with it.
 
If your comfortable fabricating, or know a good welder, make your own. That's the best way I know of to keep the costs down. Check out the spearco 2-209 core from RRE for $300 (450hp / 670cfm). I have one, love it, and with welding and piping, you'll easily come in under $500.

I was gonna get one from a friend of mine but I ended up getting a cheap star kit core.

That one looks like a good core for a decent price, but it doesn't come with any piping, and their piping kit includes all the uicp components too... I just ordered a uicp blowby pipe for my gm maf that runs to the smic outlet location, so all I'd need would be the pipe to connect it to the stock licp and the uicp I bought. Anyone know where I can get just that for these kits?

Also, on the djtool street fmic kit for the 1g, they say it also requires their licp which is another $200 since I have ABS... Anyone have this for 1g, and anyone know of a way I can just couple it to my stock licp?

And as far as the supra smic goes, from what I understand it's a good core for cheap but it requires a ton of fabrication to get it to fit... I'm fine doing bolt on's, but I don't have the tools to cut my bumper or frame. So... Yeah.
