Best radar detector for the money

I have a cheap cobra one, the damn thing beeps at everything! but it makes a particular noise when a cop is around, it has saved me many times from getting a ticket. I guess cops around here don't have the advanced equipment :tease:

They are all garbage and a waste of money. Once your hit by the cop's laser or whatever he is using, your dicked.

^ apparently you don't know alot about the newer radar and laser detectors...

most country areas( like i live in). the cops still use radar, radar can be blocked.

even if i can get on the brakes for a split second, that split second could save me 2 points on a license.

so if you have the money for one, why not have just that extra insurance?

Of course, but if the detector is sensitive enough, you'll 'hear' it coming a long way away as the radar gun pops off at other drivers ahead of you, even if it's instant-on radar. If it's a constant-on radar, I've picked them up miles ahead, even here in mountainous Colorado. That's the major benefit I get from using mine.

If it's laser, you're pretty much screwed though LOL.

I usually drive from Texas to Georgia several times a year, and on my last trip I used the Passport 8500. It catches cops in front of you, and also at least a mile behind you. I would get the reading, slow down to 5 over, and in a few minutes I would see the cop speeding by me tagging people as he went. Turns, tight corners, and everything in between. My brother also used it to great success driving from Colorado to Texas. It may be expensive, but it beats the Valentine One in almost every single test...

thanks for that review^ i'll have to add that to my list to check out
