im in the market to get a JDM engine to put in my 95 GSX and ive been shopping around and found Mitsuparts to be a pretty good price for one. Has anyone bought from these ppl? if so how was ur engine. the reason i wanted to go with them is they include everything(14B, and then other stuff that i prolly wont use). are there any other places i should check out?? any help is apprecaited. thanks guys

yea ive looked that that, and ive sent price qoutes to some of them. risingsun was about my favorite out of the group but since it didnt come with accesories i kinda forgot about them. but since most the accersorys dont work with the right specs thats not really that bad i guess. and i kinda was thinking i would upgrade to a Big t28 later so guess i should just use my lil t25 for now.

I bought a JDM from Rising Sun, it wasn't bad overall. You get 0 accessories, which I wish I would have got a turbocharger with it (so I could have played the "lottery" and maybe get a 16g.) The shipping was fairly cheap, and the longblock with a timing belt change came to about $1400. The only thing about them is their email correspondence. They tend to not answer some questions (like why my compression was rated 150-155-150-155 ... which is kind of low). I found a guy on ebay who sells JDM engines, and he was about the same price but without a timing belt change. And to my knowledge, he gave you a complete engine.

but since i plan to use all my accessories i guess it really shouldnt matter. if i went with the complete engine i would have change over my 2G manifold and then have to somehow fit the 14b to my setup. i would probably order from mitsuparts seeing how its only $1450 shipped for the complete engine. and then have an extra turbo and accessories layin around, but i havent gotten any feedback from anyone that has ordered from them yet so i dont know how good they are. but with rising sun i just use all my stuff and since i will probably get a t28 later on i wouldnt have to undo my install kit for the 14b. thnx for all the help guys i just need a lil more info before i make my final decision

why are you guys enthralled by JDM. the US spec 6 bolt motors are just as good and are much cheaper to come by

The JDM craze is just a fog of war which many come out of dissapointed.

I just hope people that want to go this route realize that they are NEVER garenteed (sp) a specific ANYTHING.

I have read MANY more threads on "I just got my JDM this and that, what is this and that exactly." It is FAR less a pain to get one built from a USDM market company. But what do I know? OMG

This is b-e-a utiful.....

the reason i want to go with is a JDM is: 1. i can get a six bolt with all the internals, 2. i want my car to run soon, 3. i get a bigger turbo than the t25 along with it. complete six bolts are rare around here. i knew of a bare block that i couldve gotten but i didnt want to have to get all the internals and then the other thing it would need to run. i knew of a complete engine and was talkin to a guy about it and then all of a sudden the guy like disappeared or something. havent been able to get a hold of him in the past 3 weeks. so right now a JDM seems like the next best option. once i get this one i dont plan to ever buy a new JDM, cuase once i wear this one out ill just rebuild it. but theres no sense rebuildin my 7 bolt. thats my .02 on my situation

true true true........

it is really the luck of the draw wit JDM's i got extreemly lucky:

head recently rebuilt, new cam gears, all timing belt stuff new, turbo absolutly no shaft play, engine 165 compression accross, good deal too.

Im happy wit my jdm, up in canada the US motors are just as hard to get...

I don't know what you're really complaining about. There are only TWO things to worry about on the JDM long block versus the normal 4G63 long block. That's the oil filter bracket and the threads where the oil feed line for the turbo goes in (I can't remember which, but they're supposed to be either fine and they're coarse or vice-a-versa) Just Helicoil it and be done with it. The reason for those threads being different is, the japanese engine has an oil sensor up there instead of down on the oil filter bracket.

Does anyone know of a place in the Nor-Cal area that will sell complete JDM or USDM motors. I rather drive and checkout the motor and then take it home to save on shipping.
