im lookin into getting a CF hood for my 2G. I got about 400$ to spend im trying to find one that with shipping isnt too much over that limit. i was looking at the CF hoods at www.procarparts.com, has anyone bought one from there or know if theyre any good. they dont come with hoodpins id have to get those too. also does it matter if its a 95 or 97 hood or are they the same shape.

You will probably spend more than 400 anywhere becasue of shipping.

I got a VIS for 420 local pickup.

sweet i found an awesome deal i thought id share with you guys. there is a FREE SHIPPING sale on S1 brand CF hoods at http://www.splittingimagez.com/Lightweightcarbonfiberhoods.htm

shipping was killing the price for me mostly, i got a OEM style hood for 350$ shipped from there. also I ordered on the phone and asked if it came with hoodpins, which i know it said it didnt on the site, but the guy said hed throw in free hood pins too, score :thumb: So it should be at my house next week Ill let you guys know how nice it is and get some pics up.

Don't get lower then A grade carbon fiber. AA is the best, and anything lower then grade A sucks. I've seen like a grade B cf hood on a Supra, and I'm no pro when it comes to cf but I could tell it was crap. Well then again the car was trash too (2 different types of BOV's, jet black HKS filter, etc...)

i got a cf hood from streetstyler.com, it was the worst peice of garbage i bought. I didnt want hood pins and they advertized a stock latch so i bought it, the price was good and included shipping for like $425? fit was horrible, didnt fit stock latch, lopsided (sp?) and didnt use stock bolts on the hinges. When it came down to it, i ended up using hood pins to make it fit right and i can only use 2 bolts on the hinges because there is no way i could drill two more holes that would make it fit. Also, the hood concaves when the engine is hot. Im wondering if all cf hoods have a tendancy to do that?? probably not cause mine is a POS. But anyway the moral of this story is to get a VIS cf hood. I am going to do that as soon as i get my engine completed :D Go before show as they say :thumb:

i guess you get what you pay for :barf:

anyone know the quality on the 1g prostreetonline.com hoods?
No, But I will be getting a cf hood soon! And if I don't go with a VIS hood I'm going with these guys Grade A cf hood. I have the codes for the website at home that should make it a little cheaper.. I'll keep this group posted. I have yet to find someone that owns a prostreet so I'll probably go VIS.. All I know is I need a new HOOD NOW.
