Ok im looking for a brand new motor for a 2nd gen AWD. I was just looking for a site that sells new ones for a good price. I have searched but havent really found much. My goals are 350-400 whp. So i dont know if i should look to buy a stock motor and upgrade fuel, turbo, ecu or look into the stroker motors or what?

It all depends on your budget. Your power goals can be done with a good stock rebuild. But, you must make sure the engine builder uses OEM MITSUBISHI parts. You don't go cheap on this stuff. Also make sure the builder really knows what he is doing. Take a look at some of the site sponsors. They are there for a reason. Some got knocked off for bad business reports. But, I can tell you that the builders we have as sponsors are good. Try Road Race engineering(Robert Garcia) 1-562-777-1522. They know their stuff. Also Magnus, or FFWD if you want to go crazy. It all depends on what your specific goals and what your budget is.

Keep us informed on what you have in mind.

Well budget isnt really going to matter. I have a good car now but i want something faster so im going to pick up a car to make faster. I have a lancer oz and it has no potential at all. A 4k turbo kit gives like 200whp and to me that is just weak. How reliable is a rebuilt motor? Because this will be my DD.

if you tune it rght, it will treat you right. thats the assumption you dont cut corners in the build of the engine. I say talk to Robert Garcia, as mentioned above. He'll take care of your engine needs.

Arash15 is right. A rebuilt motor is nothing to look down on. Get a good 6 bolt motor if you want to go that route. Most of us will recommend that to you. It does have a solid block. Also, one thing to think about is, where do you want your torque? 2g head will give you good low and mid range power while, a 1g head will give you a better power range in the top end.

In my personal opinion, I would prefer to use the 2g head. I ran a 1g head on my gsx before with a 20g and the top end was crazy. But, I am looking for more low-mid range power. Some say that is good for a normal street car. Now, if you are looking at hitting up the drag strips then, go for the 1g head.

This is just one example of the things you will need to talk to your engine builder about.

The reason I mentioned Road Race Engineering is because they will take the time to answer all your questions. I've been going to RRE for almost 4 years now and have nothing but great things to say about them.

Keep us posted.

Alright that all sounds good. I would defenatly like more low end power. I know crankwalk is overtalked too much. But i have heard if the engine has high miles and then you do a rebuild you will adventually have a issue with it.

Its all about the numbers. Nothing is perfect and when were talking engines were talking .001 to .0001 of an inch. Just make sure whoever builds it (you or a shop) knows what the hell they are doing.

Well budget isnt really going to matter.

You sure about that? ROFL

Whatever you want to spend, double it so you know what you are actually going to spend for all the lil stuff that adds up.

Yea budget isnt a problem because all of my money will be going to the car. I have alot saved up now and then whatever i make off of selling my car.

Some statistics have been found that 20-30% of all 7 bolt motors produced by Mitsubishi crankwalked. In 6 bolts, this is unheard of. If you dont know what crankwalk is, use the search button. :beatentodeath:

Ok thank you again. Now ill just wait to get my car and decide what to do depending on the miles.
