i haeva 91 gsx, and i am ready to see what the car can do at the track, i have, new ngk bpr7es, new ngk wires, act 2600,modded BOV, built 5 speed tranny (M/T), all free mods, bushur ported 2g exhaust manifold, mbc, bost gauge, k&n,and some other mild port work,rx7 TT fuel pump, and a couple other small mods, i was wondering what to do with my exaust, for the track, btw motor runs beatiful

my exhaust is diconected right now, so i would be glad to do anything, that would gain me anything

option
1. run open turbo
2. run open downpipe
3. gut cat, run full exaust
4. run full exhaust
5. remove silencer, or resonator, if possible?

i would not like to buy any type of test pipe, this is just for a tempory period, i am getting my full 3 in turbo back, from

http://www.pressuretreatedtechnologies.com/

thanks guys

i would cut the resonator and the cat off, well thats what i did, it makes it sound a whole lot better, maybe a GReddy Turbo exhaust

Of those 5 options gut the cat. Personally I would do a test pipe if your going through all that trouble. You can pick them up for cheap.

i gutted the cat, sounds a little better : ), but i can not find the resonator, do i have 1?

i would run open downpipe.
if you do, make sure you turn down your mbc too.

is there anyway, i can remove any of the guts, restriction in teh muffler?
If you're going to remove the silencer and the baffles in the muffler, you may as well just chop the exhaust off before the muffler. You could optionally just run an open downpipe with a gutted cat. Gutting the cat is super easy with a long screwdriver.

the muffler is completly disconected from the car, is is not attached to anything, and is sitting on my porch, is ther anything i can do to it?

Lol..

"MADE BY HIGH QUALITY STAINLESS STEEL (LIGHT WEIGHT)"

Hell for $3 you can't go wrong, it's just pipes.

Is it smooth?

..

Seriously, I'd just run the open downpipe if you're getting a turbo-back soon. It'll be the best performance gain of any of the choices you listed, better than a 3" cat-back even. And, it's even cheaper than that shiny $3 turd you bought. Yea, that muffler will work, as in it will transfer exhaust from one end to the other, but it won't gain you anything. I'd relist it on ebay if I were you, you may be able to sell it for $10. =)

Oh, and don't run open turbo, you at least want a tube to put that hot exhaust gas out of the engine bay. Your fans will straight melt with an open turbo.

pshhhh fans are for ####ies....(LOL) anyways, why are you trippin about it if your getting something soon... just let it be until you get your new turbo, the downpipe is all you need...

i think im gonna order a downpipe, where is the cheapest i can get 1, 3in perferably, even used?
any ones you would recomend?

I wouldn't recommend the Pacesetter; It's more expensive than the VRS DP, and I've heard a lot of bad things about it (I'm sure others can vouch for that as well). If you want to add to the VRS DP, you can do it later, when you're ready for the 3" turbo-back. If you're looking for a more common name, the A'pexi N1 is there too. I haven't heard a bad word about the A'pexi exhaust system. I've run the VRS SS turbo-back o2 eliminator personally, and it worked fine, never cracked or had any problems after about 15k miles; my only complaints were the o2 housing part of the o2 eliminator didn't look very well constructed. The pipes weren't even round at the exhaust housing flange, they were bent together to make it fit (if you look at your exhaust housing exit, the wastegate and turbine wheel holes are very close together, it'd be hard to make two thick SS pipes fit in there separately). Also, I had to cut the dump tube and weld it at a different angle so that it didn't hit the crossmember. Otherwise, everything fit well, the hangers met perfectly at the stock location, and it looked very good with the Magnaflow muffler.

For used, check ebay, make sure you get the name of where it was constructed, or the classifieds (here on tuners, DSMtrader.com, or DSMtalk.com have classified sections).

For cheap, you can have a local exhaust shop make one for you- it may be pie-cut, which isn't very pretty, or it may be press-bent rather than mandrel-bent depending on the shop. But getting a quote from locals is definitely not a bad idea.
