I am doing a winter build and i was wondering if anyone knew what they thought my 95 talon tsi would do with the stock turbo that includes the following mods.

-FMIC & upper and lower piping
-16 lbs boost
-header
-turbo back 3" exhaust
-intake

i might of forgot something but that should be close enough.

You cannot get a "header" for a turbo car, it is called a mainfold. The stock 2g piece when ported is a very good piece. If it were me I would skip the fmic and get a 14b off of e-bay and put it on. Get the fmic later. No one can tell you what the car will do with X mods, alot depends on the condition of the car and the driver behind the wheel, among other things. The only way to find out is to go do it.

t-25's have hit 13's, but its such a small turbo, whats the point? youll end up spending all this money to get your car into the 13's, then switch out the turbo and be in the 11's (maybe) you can find a 14b on ebay for close to nothing.

I on the contrary to an above poster disagree. You should get all of your supporting mods before you get your turbo. Once your t-25 dies, then you should upgrade. Before that happens, get your supporting mods first. You will see a bigger increase in performance if you have all of your supporting mods and then add your turbo at the end.

Once you upgrade your turbo and have all of your supporting mods waiting for it, take some time to tune it and enjoy the results.

Evidently you have never went from a T-25 to a 14-b, it is a big difference. I agree with you on supporting mods, but you can get a 14b and run 12-14 psi safley and get a great increase in power. The ideal situation would be a logger, 14b, fuel pump. Go to 16-18 psi that is a real good bang for the buck.

a buddy of mine had a 92 gsx with a stock turbo, side mount intercooler, 3" exhaust, gutted cat, and a short throw and 2600 clutch...might have had more but that's all I think was one there and it was running 14.0s

Aside from the guy running the 14b that ran 10s (lots of nitrous), I averaged out the best 5 times on a 14b after his, and they averaged to 12.28. I didn't notice if they used NOS but I HAD to look at the guy who ran 10s and his page said he used NOS. Anyways, with supporting mods, tuning, and lots of practice, you can easily click off 13s on a 14b, and maybe climb into the 12s like those guys.

Sorry for the dumb question but will a 14b bolt right up to everything that the stock one will or is there some things that ill have to get?

An install kit is by far the easiest way to do it, but technically you don't HAVE to get one. There are a few things you can re-use to cut down the costs, like the oil drain, the water lines (if you swap them front to back and vice versa, and then bend them a bit), but a J-pipe, oil feed, and gaskets are pretty much needed. IMO, an install kit makes life a whole lot easier, but if it's absolutely necessary to put the turbo on as soon as possible, you can do without and still get by okay. I used RRE's full install kit for my 14b install, and I would recommend it to anyone.

my 91 gsx, 14b, stock smic, 190 lph wal., uicp, open header after down pipe...netted a 12.9 in the 1/4 w/race gas. i have stated it before and will again...the 14b is highly underrated. why could he not swap the 14b and replace the fuel pump and bov, add a mbc, and turn up the boost? (within reason)
