Ok, so here is the deal with my squeek.

Idle = no squeeking
2k RPMS and Above= loud non stop squeeking

But when i hold the rpms while driving, at 1500, the belt lighly makes noise, then it slowly (5-10 secs) goes away, and i accelerate and it stays away. Until i go back to idle, and when i drive off again, it starts squeekin.

Which belt is common to go on a dsm?

Where are the tensionars for both of the belts??

And if replacing the belt doesnt work? ( im about to change it now) .... what else should i do??

Providing you don't have an idler with bad bearings or something like that, I would replace your belts with good quality belts. The ac belt is a little bit difficult to get to and the ps belt is a little different to adjust, but other than that you should be ok. Now, once the belts are changed, you will have to run the car for a few minutes and shut it off. Re adjust the belts to proper tension. That should hold a while. The longer a belt squeals, the more glazing it gets on the surface. I do not recommend any kind of belt dressing as they usually make things worse by collecting dirt and debris on the belt and pulleys.

Good Luck

yea, i tried belt dressing, didnt help. But yea, the car died, i have no power at all, nothing, the radio first shut off, then my volts went from 13.5 to 7.5 and one time hit 6.7 . so i dunno what the hell is wrong, i think the belt just kept slippin on the alt. and all the power from the battery got used up, and it went dead,. So i hope a new battery and belt will solve my problem. The alternator is brand new too, i dont get it.

Harmonic balancer.

How can you be so certain though? I have had this problem before, all it has turned out to be is the power steering/A/C belt. I know you're right in almost all posts, but I just don't see how you can come to that conclusion so easily.

I keep one in reserve. I had one come loose about a hundred miles from home. I got home, but just barely. I would check that too. I just overlooked it. He caught it.

Good Luck

It's what I did last summer, during the hottest July this godforsaken place has ever seen.
Which doesn't prove I can't be wrong. Unfortunately, despite placing my hands on the monitor, I just can't precisely feel the problem. I knew I should have gone with the 256-meg video card.

Ok here is the update. il start from the begining to now.

-Ok, the belt started making noise
-The belt stopped makin noise
-The amps dropped and the battery died
-Installed new battery
-The amps dropped, battery died
-Installed new belt
-Car started, no belt noise, but still lossing amps.
-Installed a new Alt. Fuse, the old one was broken inside the fuse box, the one side was stuck in it. so i thought this was the problem.
-Started car, the belt noise was sooooooo loud.
-shut car off
-checked the tensionars, all good.

So, now im thinking this is what happened.

-Alt. was going bad, and making noise, not that belt.
-alt. died, and the fuse blew from trying to create power
-when i installed the new belt, it didnt make noise, because it wasnt the belt to begin with , it was the alt.
-when i installed the new fuse, the alt. was trying to create power, and made the noise of the belt squeeking.

So now i have my amps dropping, and a squeeking belt, im right back at the begining with this, only now im loosing amps and the belt is making noise. i dont know what to do. im so confused, should i try to lube the alt. pully? maybe the pully has dirt/debris in it? If so , what should i use?

P.s. i used my volt meter, and it read 12.4 from the alt. with the car running, but it started decreasing as the car ran. i think it was because of the fuse being blown.

turns out in the harness, all of the charging wires were fried. had to replace them. problem is now solved. thanks guys.

I assume since you could'nt tighten a belt that someone else found your bad wiring. If your mechanic found it,he just replaced your belt and charged you a bunch.
I assume, based on your powder blue name, and rookie title, that you can't read well enough to notice he said the problem was solved, and just wanted to be an ass.

Usually, at this point, there is no need to comment.
