Could that part of the valve shot out the exaust manafold and down the pipe? May be stuck in the cat?
That's what i was thinking...that it just went out the exhaust. It's probably in some sewer since theres no cat on the car. Now to see how much it will cost to fix it

so i went to put the car back together. all new gaskets, new timing belt components and all that. went to turn the car on...and it would rev up to 3k and then die in like 3 seconds. i could not figure it out, new ecu, checked a bunch of stuff. and i just realized that the nipple sticking out of the valve cover towards the intake manifold that goes to the vacuum line into the intake manifold was missing. and now it idles like a champ. now to put the alternator and stuff on!

Thats good news, only a missing vaccum line :thumb: considering our DSM cars LOL

i drove it all the way down to san luis obispo since spring break ended. didnt have any problems with it at all. just the rotors could use a resurfacing. also, it needs to get a base timing. when i first drove it the timing felt pretty retarded as the car was not responding well, so i advanced it a bit and now it seems fine. i do have quite the lumpy idle though, i need to look into that next. and surprisingly...the red interior is growing on me...i dont mind it so much anymore

damn you, I was hoping you would sell it to me....

I hate the rainbow look, but I wasn't really thinking about replacing it til recently. I probably wont, because even tho it is rainbow seats, the harder I press my back against it, the better they look :sneaky:

i am officially advertising my 1g timing belt service... haha

Why? so you can deal with that PITA and not us? ROFL

all that reminds me of is when i had to adjust the timing belt like 15 times in one day because the balance shafts werent being timed right, and when they were the car ran like poo! :notgood:

Congrats on getting it up an running! hope you have fun with it!

now that i've helped with a timing belt, i dont see it as much of a pita, although it is a lot harder than a honduhh. now to see how far i wanna go with the build on this car

It usually is more of a PITA than that... what can I say, I have the magic touch

mahesh got that shit tensioned on the first try...about 6 hours into working on the car on a weekday night.

and zack..i think once i get rid of the black car, im gonna just pick up the fmic, gm maft, dsmlink, and the fp setup...and ill run that until i need to build the block. remember your impreza thing...im also leaning towards that..but old school. we'll see what happens. i just dont like the fact that these cars dont handle great...ok...but not great

Trust me I know what you mean about not handeling, at least you own the lighter than my 2g awd 1g. Trying to take turns in my land yaht of a car isn't very nerve settling to say the least.

You thinking about a gc8 with engine swap?

i think ill hold off on the stroker for a little bit. ill run the 2.0 and see what it can do on the stock internals..and maybe ill build a stroker on the side. it all depends on how i feel with the power i will make

LS1 RX-7!

Or a 5.0 something! I be knowin 5.0s. 5Runner guy knows the wiring harness like the back of his hand now... should be damn easy.

hmmm maybe a single turbo 5.0 like me and you were discussing man the possibilities for cars are endless. If I didn't have to have a somewhat practical car I would do an ls1/rx7 so fast it wouldn't be funny.

it finally cleared up for one day, so i took advantage of it and took some pictures of my car. i have to say, the driverside rear angle is her good side. maybe because their is exhaust stain on the passenger side and paint missing on the front bumper...haha. at least the wheels look decent. not bad for $80 and some wheel paint.
