This is actually a good idea...I've been wanting to take my Camaro/Talon out to Sears Point er I mean infineon raceway. I haven't been there in years.

We could could go and get something to eat after? I mean even if you are not tracking your car you pay $10 to get in and another $10 to eat? I'm pretty sure we can all afford $20? again just throwing idea's how many others would be down for this?

I think thats a great idea :sneaky: , I would be down with it. But I guess it depends on my schedule, when do they have open track? And could this be done on a weekend?

Ah bay area meets my favorite subject!! I think I am going to piss off some people here but I could care less(sorry). The reason you haven't seen a meet in nearly a month is because I have not had time to plan a meet. For some reason I am the only one that can seem to get a meet together, I really don't know why but because of this I try to get the meets going. I like hanging out with local dsmers, as you are all really cool people and some of my closest friends were actually met 4 years ago at the attendance of my first stinson beach meet. However just as module said, I work on average about 54 hours a week now since we are getting ridiculously busy and I also go to school another 6.5hours a week on top of my work load. Couple that with the fact that I have been working out bugs with my current set up for all to long making a meet for people(who 90% chance won't even show up except for the few who always show up) who complain about every idea thrown out isn't exactly high on my priorities list.

From what I have noticed about every meet is that while we come in here and ask for ideas everything seems like fun. I almost had a paintballing meet set up one time, hell who said it had to be car related right? All kinds of fun shit gets brought up: karting, track, cruise, bbq, and a whole slew of other activities. Everyone is gung ho in the beggining but the minute somethign solid gets laid down half the people back out because they are too broke, their car is down, etc... Then another half of the people left going always back out at the last minute. Frusterating is an understatement of the feeling you get when this happens to the meet you just spent hours preparing/seting up/thinking up. For the few who do show up it won't matter what you do or when you do it the hardcores will always be there.

I think I have given up hope on making meets for the bay area as well, and I am supposed to be the one that plans these things. From now on my only major involvement for the most part will be the stinson beach meet and the santa cruise run that I think will replace the mt. hamilton run. Other than that I will just post a thread will be at the track/karting/etc... on such and such day show up if you want.

My recomendation for the few who would like to put forth the energy and try and organize meets is to just make the meet instead of ask for opinions. It seems to work the best if you have the plan worked out already or you spend a month and a half trying to decide what where and when.

Okay, some interest is starting over a proposed track meet. Can anyone contribute more info on it? I've never been to any of the tracks here, so I'm unsure of location, and times of operation.

Maybe we can concentrate on this event and get the details worked out (Date, location, what to do after or later, etc) so others can start planning to get the day off and such.

For me, I'd rather have a meet on a Saturday (I work Saturdays, but a co-worker owes me a switch for a Sunday shift).

So I'm proposing that we have a meet at a track on a Saturday (date to be announced) until more info on a track is presented.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that if we do have some sort of meet that we decide on the day of the meet what to do for a future meet. Maybe this will speed up the process of deciding what to do later so a long thread won't be started on just giving out opinions and not deciding on anything sooner.

Ok. Here's the deal. If we want to go to Infenion, they have a thing called "Wednesday Night Drags" which is every wednesday until November 9th. COST: $20 competitors, $15 for students with their high school identification card, $10 spectators. Anyone with a driver's license can compete, providing their vehicle or motorcycle passes a simple technical inspection. All vehicles must have mufflers. They have some rules and regulations of course, if you want to check them out heres the link: rules and regulations Infineon is in Sanoma so those in the South Bay are gonna have to drive awhile. I suggest we cruise together. Maybe those from the South Bay could meet up then meet guys from the East Bay etc. Suggestions for the date: OCTOBER 12th or OCTOBER 19th (both wednesdays), plenty of time to get work off, if you need to. Like stated before we can get something to eat after or whatever.

HOW DOES THIS SOUND?

Question: Zach when do you think the Mt. Hamilton run will be?

There will be no mt. hamilton run. That was always more of luda/jeff's meet more than mine. What I will be doing to replace the mt. hamilton run is start doing a santa cruise run. I had a couple of people show up to the last one and it turned out to be a really good time(or at least I thought so) so look for it again once the weather starts to get warm again I am thinking of planning it the month after the stinson beach meet so the sumertime is when the bigger meets seem to be happening.

The track idea is great. :thumb: I would definetily go to this event, I have a couple of friends that would want to go too if thats okay. October 19th would be good for me, enough time to call the day off and not make plans for that day.
We should go early though. meet somewhere in the east bay or whatever spot just as long as we get to Infineon by 2pm so we can get some practice runs. LETS GO AND BEAT SOME HONDAS :sneaky:
I think I know why Raul wants to go to the track...BR580 :shhh: ...HMM, Thats something i gotta see :thumb:

Cool! There is an interest for this. And yes, other people are more than welcome. The more the merrier. I plan on trying to get a couple people I know as well.

I feel like making the 19th of October the date for this meet/event but I would like some more input and just to see how many people would go. So far we've got interest from at least 5 people. Is anyone else interested? Not interested? I'll give this some more time. People need to post up with comments, opinions and questions.

if you want the meet to happen and you want it to happen on the 19th start a new thread and tell people it will be on the 19th, this is where we meet up, this is how we are going to get there, here is the address, and basically if you have any problems with it who cares. That's the only way a meet will ever happen if you wait for others inputs you won't ever get them and then you will be left waiting for three weeks. then its too late to make a meet, noone will be satisfied and you just wasted a huge oportunity to make a meet happen.

Is anyone locally able to help me out with the timing belt procedure and installation! I really really really want my car to make it out to ONE of these meets! The car hasn't seen the streets for a year and i already screwed up the timing belt twice...I screwed up a perfectly good engine(first attempt, chewed up piston and 8 broken valves) and i almost screwed up my newly rebuilt engine! Waiting for my parts to come in again, they should be here later on this week! If ANYONE has done the timing belt before and is willing to help me out, Please PM me!!! Your help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

Its good to see that you guys are actually motivated to getting these meets together! Looking forward to a meet at least once a month, if things start looking good! :thumb: :rocks:

It's nice to have a cruise/run kind of meet then BBQ afterwards or eating contest. :D Well whenever you guys decided and better have a good turn out this time. We almost end up 5 or 6 dsm that is really down. Please if you can't come don't bother posting up. I'm always ready :thumb: Dorene call me pls. i have a q? about that ice cream :)
