What would cause my aftermarket radio to flash off and on? Also as its doing this the antena is clicking and going up down about an inch or so. It all started after i replaced the ofh with a ffofh i had the alternator tested before it started doing this because of an extremely obnoxious squeal and it passed. I replaced the belt and only when its really loose will the squeal stop. But now it seems like its hitting the powersteering belt.. Im lost... Any suggestions?

Sounds like the alt isn't sitting straight for some reason. Check the bottom hole for being egged out. I had this happen in my 95 and it gave me all kinds of problems mainly squeal issues. Once I fixed it with drilling the hole alittle for a larger bolt my problems went away. Also are you sure you hooked everything back up to the alternator? Sounds like you have a loose connection. Also check the battery cables and terminals for being loose and corroded!

Thanks for the help. and im pretty sure i hooked everything up correctly there was only one plug and the the small connector on the bottom of the alternator . When i changed the belt the last time it stopped for a couple of hours and started doing that crazy shit with the antenna and radio. Would the oil sending light being capped off have anything to do with it?

It shouldn't give a problem being capped of but who knows LOL. Are you sure you didn't mix up the oil sending wire with the alt little wire. I doubt it but you never know, double check your work just to rule things out. I would check that hole I was talking about for being egged out. Sounds like its your problem. It starts out straight and that's why your belt didn't squeal. But once the car is ran and pressure is being applied to the belt as it spins it will slowly pull the alt out of position. Once it's that way it causes the belt to squeal. Makes sense to me bro! Did you use a oem belt or aftermarket?

Agreed.

Squealing almost always means an alignment issue with the pulleys or a tension issue with the belt.

Double check the radio install. Could be due to low voltage or surge from the alternator belt slipping, but it also sounds like your power antenna output from the stereo may be shorting with the constant or switched power input going to the stereo. Seems unlikely that the squeal would start out of the blue right after installing a FFOFH...

Yeah i replaced the ofh first and already had it capped off.. when i get off work i wil just pull it again and start back over.. this car has to cut me a break eventually this has been a two week battle and i intend to win. Hahaha I bought 2 aftermarket belts and then finally went with the oem belt, and thats when it stopped but the alt belt was super loose the next day so maybe it is that bottom.

So the squeal was coming from the alternator bracket touching the powersteering pulley. Fml
