base timing check.. normal..?

went to check my base timing with the timing wire grounded and a timing light and the timing mark is floating back and forth... is this normal with you guys... engine has no BS and it has cams in there...

couldn't find anything on it so hopefully it normal or else there's a solution to it...

Yes it is normal for the timming mark to be floating around some. Even with the ground connected the mark will float some.

before i put cams in there and remove the bs, the timing mark stay pretty good in one spot... so now that it's floating around, do i just make the best of it?

Yep, just get it to float as evenly and as closely as possible, and you should be ok.

If you have a digital timing light, you can use the cam gears marks.
