I would like to see more pics of those wheels. I have the 3000gt calipers with the vr4 rotors. I am really considering going with 17's so I cant throwa crazy wide wheel on there. I have been looking into at least 9's but have never found anyone running anything wider than 8's on a 1g.

For more pics on some Evos:

Rota P45R Wheel thread!! - evolutionm.net

These absolutely require coilovers to fit, and they also require grinding the seam on the rear "trailing arm" down and re-welding it.

I can't get any more pics of them on the car as I had to put the Toyo R888's away for the winter, otherwise they're known to crack in freezing temps.

They stick out about an inch and a half on my car with zero camber in the front, maybe a half inch or less with -2.2.

has anyone seen this:
Aluminum Brake Caliper Bracket Turbo Eclipse/Talon/Laser/Galant [TN-3K1GBRKTA] - $119.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

It doesn't look like the caliper mounts at the right angle to get a concentric circle.Opinions?

Its hard to tell if its correct without the rotor on there. And thats fine if your running stock rotors, but what if you want to run bigger? I have a set of the VR4 calipers but will be running the powerslot big brake rotors so I guess I will be making my own brakets.

Well this certainly came back from the dead. How come nobody has tried any of the RX7 calipers? 86-91 had 4 pot calipers for a .89" rotor width if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure if its for all FDs, but they had a 4 pot for 1.25" rotors. The older calipers can be had for cheap too, under a hundred for a pair. I'm not sure on piston diameter, I have seen 36.1mm for all 4 pistons, and then another showing smaller leading pistons and bigger trailing; again though, not sure which is which nor the accuracy of the info. If the rotors fit they would be super easy since at least some applications use the same bolt pattern, stud size, and centerbore as us.

Either way, this summer I'm going to attempt one of the RX7 swaps. Now I'll be able to get some more use out of my little mill. If all goes well I may be able to help interested parties with the brackets.

I figured I would post up how I ended up completing my bargin basement brakes here since this thread was a lot of help to me.

I origionally bought a set of the VR4 Calipers, brackets and 05-06 Nissan Altima SER rotors. After playing around with them for quite awhile I determined I was going to have to run a much larger spacer (about 3/4") than I wanted. The VR4 4 piston calipers are really wide. So I then picked up a set of Mustang Cobra calipers, pads and rotors. Since they are only a 2 piston caliper similar to stock, but supersized they are much easier to fit under the wheels. I ended up running the Cobra calipers with the Altima rotors and using custom brackets.

I have since learned of these

brackets for running cobra calipers and rotors. Had I know about them I would have gone with them instead of making my own. Cutting 3/8" steel is not easy.

I used the Altima rotors because they fit our hubs much better than the cobras. The cobra rotors need a spacer to center them on our hubs, the altima rotors do not. The altima rotors also have slightly taller hat moving them inward a few mm, allowing that much more clearance between the wheel and caliper. The altima rotor is slightly smaller diameter than the cobra rotor. If I remember correctly the Altima rotor is 12.5" diameter vs 13" for the cobra rotor.

I used 2G braided lines, stock length. They worked just fine. I used the ford Banjo bolts, but I did have to cut about 1/4" off the end, other wise they would hit the inside of the piston.

I paid $300 for the calipers and rotors off a mustang board. And probably had about $50 in metal for the brackets, hardware, and caliper paint. Plus $100 for the braided stainless lines (all 4 wheels). So I basically have the Baer kit for under $500.

Heres every thing involved for one wheel.

THe bracket bolted on

I had to slightly grind the back side of the caliper bridge to clear the head of the bolt holding the bracket to the car. I ended up removing much more material than necessary.

I am fitting a brake set up.I discoverd that a ford crown vic front rotor has the same bolt pattern and off set as the talon.I made a center ring fot the hub so it fits well.Next I plan on modding a bracket for a Wilwood superlite caliper. The rotor is 12" by1.10 thick.I will use the .800 thick pad.I then plumb with s.s brake lines.
The rotors-free
hub ring -I made them-free
Wilwood superlite [email protected]
brake pads-72.00
plumbing-100.00
brackets free,I will fab them
I fitted ,the 3000gt rims will fit with out spacers.

Some one further back asked if the evo 8 wheels can clear the 3kgt 4pot calipers with cobra rotors. I didn't see any answers. Has anyone tried the evo8 wheels to see if they have enough clearance to not need spacers? Thanks

Just wanna show u my REDO brackets..basically used Wortdogs drawing..the Bolt patern and redo the design. So its for Mustang 13.1" rotors..

Finally..
the "old" design weights 617grams
new design weights 357grams.
So Two new design brackets weight only 100Grams more than ONE old designed bracket:D
Of course both brackets were made from 10mm steel 11 *** "500+MPa in push" I think:hmm:
Anywasy i was checking Aluminium brackets which weights like 150grams in old design...but was scared run 12mm Alu:coy:..Heat can twist that Alu.Heat+Torque..:nono: Strong grade aluminium got only 310MPa in push..compare with steel ..

Yes they clear fine. As far as I can tell, the 3Kgt VR4 calipers and the Brembo EVO 8's are basically the same caliper.

GTO's in Japan actually had a brembo option. I wouldn't see why they are the same. The brembo option were just gold painted and had BREMBO on them instead of mitsubishi? LOL.

Something like this?

I just found a bunch of these in plasma-cut steel in the garage. Same dimensions, rougher OD. Nothing to do with them so if you're interested...
