So according to Banishedmonk, I have finally figured out what the hell turbo is on the talon. Apperently its a 16g but there is a slight issue that needs to be addressed. Who ever installed it did so without hooking up the coolant lines to it and just looped the lines form one to other bypassing the turbo all together. Any body have an idea where I may be able to get the fittings to correct this before I completely roast my turbo? oh, and just as a side thought, compression test showed 175 accross the board. Now I know I;m new here but isn't that a bit much?

that good for a 2g. 1g's have 158 across the board with 7.8:1. I ran 16 hard for a whole year with out coolant lines never had a problem with it.

Well just the same. I don't know this cars history all that well so I don't want to push my luck any further than i already have. Got home tonight to find my passenger rim covered in grease as I aperently busted a cv boot today....fun times!!!

Coolant is not necessary in turbos. All the coolant does in our turbo is prevents the oil from cooking inside and sitting and "choking".

Basically, a turbo does not require coolant, Mitshi but coolant in their simply because the normal driver is a retard and will just turn their turbo car off right after driving and walk away. They dont let the car sit for a min or two and let the oil cool and pass through before shutting the car off.

So if you are worried, wait a min or two after driving before shutting the car off or get a turbo timer (so u dont have to sit in the car).

Or your last option is to replace the coolant lines.

Many people dont use them however, simply because they can just be another leak and a pain if you constantly take off your turbo.

technically you dont have to wait to turn your car if your just driving and not boosting at all really. Your turbo is not going to go up in temp if your not beating on it.
