balance shaft eliminator/ oil pressure

bought my car already built put on a turbo and doing a head gasket now. noticed that my oil pressure was low when driving the car and was going to do a balance shaft eliminator kit to raise the pressure sense it was low (no light though) and took off the head and everything and noticed it already has the eliminator kit on it and was thinking is it possible to install the kit wrong so you lose pressure? and should i pull my oil pump to make sure it is still in spec so i know thats not my oil pressure problem. welcome to any ideas

Your oil relief valve could be ported too much.

Thats if it was even done.

hmmm. Do you have a aftermarket oil pressure gauge? or are you going by the stock one..
Ive heard multiple cases that that gauge could go bad and misread..

as you prob already know, eliminating the balance shafts results in higher oil pressure..

Whats your oil pressure running at idle, 50mph and lets say around 80-90mph?

Forgot to say, in the kit it comes with caps you need to put in where the oiling holes are for the balance shaft inside the actual motor.

yeah maybe the person before you did it wrong, he couldve put the cap on and the stub but not use the bearings to block the oil passages

If it wasn't done then you'll have an oil leak internally lowering the pressure.

I agree with the installation of an aftermarket gauge. How often are these overlooked in a rebuild because the weren't reading wrong before? I trust a stock gauge as far as I trust the dummy light.

you check your cam caps?
that's quite a bit of pressure loss if the bearings weren't rotated to block the oil passage

it does have an aftermarket gauge that will read anywhere between below 0psi to over 100psi no matter idle, high rpm or anything. some days it reads good some its all over the place bouncing

and where is the pressure relief valve located?

and should i pull the oil pump off to check the the eliminator kit was installed correctly and to spec the pump to make sure its still in specs?

i already have everything apart cause im doing the head gasket right now.

The pressure relief valve is the big chunk of metal that connects to the lower block by the crank pulley. it holds the oil filter.

The pressure relief valve is the 17mm bolt on the far right side (as you look at the oil filter housing). On the back side of the housing you'll see a small port that dumps back into the oil pan

so i will take off the bracket and see how much of it is ported
