So, I had a water pump go out on me and some over heating followed. I replaced the water pump, while I was at it I bought new timing components (Idler pulley, auto tensioner, tensioner pulley, and new timing belt) and did the BSE kit and put every thing back together. (all procedures were done according to the VFAQs)

Went to fire it up,

Engine wouldn't crank up.

Used started fluid - no crank

Checked fuel - fuel system seems to work. Disconnected the fuel hose from the fuel rail and fuel poured out while cranking.

Checked fuel injectors - 12 volts while cranking and correct resistance between leads on connector.

checked timing again - positioned at TDC, removed valve cover and spark plugs, depth checked piston heads, rotated through 2 rotations of crank back to TDC. All piston heads and valves are properly mechanically timed.

checked all spark plugs - removed spark plug wire and used spare spark plug to test. All spark plugs fire (though not sure if they are firing in the proper order. Yes, all my spark plug wires are in the proper order. 4-1-2-3)

checked resistance and voltage at CPS and CAS - All voltage and resistances check good

tried cranking again - it cranked and started for about 3 seconds and white smoke poured out of the tail pipe, then it died again.

Finally broke down and bought a compression gauge - had all very low results with cold test. every where between 30 - 90 PSI. So I tired a wet test. results are still low (1 - 120psi, 2 - 95psi, 3 - 70psi, 4 - 120psi)

Does any one have any ideas? My only guess is to perform a leak down test, or remove the head and check for warped head or blown head gasket. As always, any input is appreciated.

Your on the right track. I would perform a leak down test & go from there before tearing it down.

Looks like the gasket is gone between Cyl #2 and #3

Swapping compression between the two.

With the white smoke out the tail pipe.

Looks like the head needs to come off.

It definitely sounds like the head gasket is blown. It most likely went out when the engine overheated, which means the head is probably warped. I would run a leak down test just to make sure the head gasket is the only issue. But the head will still have to come off to be straightened, resurfaced, and inspected for cracks.
