Do most of you have gauges that can be seen at night?(ie backlit) Or do all of them come like that?

I have never seen a gauge without a back light. Even the cheapys we sell at advance like SUN PRO have lights.

i was actually looking at glowshift gauges. still undecided on whether i should buy them or buy more expensive ones.

from my knowledge most gauges ive seen have a back light.

I'd go for the Autometer Gauges IMO, they work pretty well for the price.

Is it possible he was talking about the instrument cluster... Like this... (example)

No, i was talking about the A-pillar gauges, but those also look good, is there a link for those?

I can't recall ever seeing a gauge intended for the inside of the car that didn't at least have the ability to light up at night. Whether you do it or not...

As far as lighting goes...there is a difference between back lighting and through lighting. Most will call back lighting as the light goes around the gauge face edge to light up the face (ie my old VDO EGT gauge) and through lighting is when the light passes through the numbers (ie my new ISSPRO gauges) which light up similar to the factory gauges.

The "through lighting" you are referring to is called "Reverse Lighting"

Just a matter of terminology between different manufacturers (ISSPRO calls it through lighting, oh well).

The real point I am trying to make is that there is a difference with "back" lighting...

1. Lighting that passes from the back around the face edge to light up the front side.
2. Lighting that passes through the characters.

Someone would just have to do a little research and find the gauge style and type of lighting that is preferred.

FYI: The ISSPRO gauges I use (oil pressure, water temp and EGT, although the "oddball" of the set is an old SPI 30-0-30 vac/boost)...

Utilizing the orange bulb covers yield an almost OEM appearance, "close enough for government".

Ya, I like the Prosport gauges. I just got 2 of the premium ones and the glowshift a-piller. They look pretty sweet.

Glowshifts are kinda hard to see during the day but at night they look nice and display well. I'm thinking of moving over to prosport gauges though.
