Ok so Ive searched everywhere and found similar problems but no accurate or helpful answers

I've got a bad backfire problem when in boost around 4500rpm
I've got aluminum pipes everywhere and made sure to look for boost leaks
Now I'm only running 10psi so I don't get why I'm having this backfire
I've got a 14b running 10 psi on a stock fuel set up I'm only running 10 psi to avoid fuel cut before I get any logers or Dsmlink Or upgrade my fuel system

Ok all my emissions lines where removed by previous owner
Egr still there and the nipple on it has a plug I think erg block off should b ordered ASAP right

I really wish to figure this out because this is my dd I also have a tick at idle wich is driving me crazy cus as soon as I drive it goes away balance shafts are still there I'm getting a new time tensioner soon hopefully that's it

7 bolt engine btw (running strong till the stupid backfire):banghead:

It could be a few things, check your spark plug gap because it could be blowing the spark out. Next check the coils you may have a weak one. Next do a boost leak test, it sounds to me that you have a boost leak and youre running extremely rich.

Yeah I looked at it while it was running from my buddies car defenetly running rich lot of black smoke after it backfires I've got new plug wires getting new plugs tomorow
Did a boost leak test and nothing I did blew out the plugged nipple on the egr valve though I'm not sure if it was leaking from there or not deffenetly getting the block off plate soon

I've got some wierd vaccum lines on the intake to the pipes after the bov wondering if anyone knows if they are hooked up right taking pics ASAP

As for the ticking it only does it at idle and it's faint until after I've driven the car sounds close to the harmonic balancer so I've been thinking timing pulley or tensioner related

Sounds like it could be a lifter tick, improperly gapped spark plugs, bad wires, or something up with the air fuel ratio..go down the list and check them all off man.

Is that the check engine light I see? If so have you checked the code? Does you car kinda cut out at higher rpms? I had a similar problem that turned out to be bad Spark plugs

Yeah check engine light is on due to the emissions been removed what is it evap System
Other than that I got no other codes
Doesn't stall at all bov is a 1st gen and it is circulated back to the intake as it should
Im getting new plugs tomorow and gap em at .28 At least that's what I keep hearing

Ok good when I had my problem which sounds similar to this was because the previous owner put the wrong spark plugs in. So I bought some Ngk platinums and it fixed it

It looks like a boost leak to me. I would do a boost leak test before replacing the plugs.

Come to think of it it does have somewhat of a rough idle and shakes a bit the only boost leak I've had was from the erg valve

Turns out they were gapped at .20 LOL
And I blocked off the egr no more leaks and no more backfire
thanks guys :D running like a champ now
...now if I could do something about that annoying tick

So I figured ### the tick was...
Balance shaft bearing gave out
Took the oil pan today and wow I was shocked to see a balance shaft bearing in the oil pan I mean it wasn't crushed or anything it was just a bent up bearing luckily I got to it before any real damage occurred
