My car will rev normally if its not under any load in park or neutral but while in gear trying to drive it will start to shake the whole car as soon as I start .

If I keep hitting te gas when the cars shaking it will start to make this really loud backfireing pop noise and still won't accelerate.

I really can't figure out what the problem is.

hey i have this problem too. i know exactly what you mean. mine car seemed to start doin this after i installed my intake..any link there? i also have the original spark plug wires...my engine has 142xxx on the clock, could the problem be linked to that in any way?

guys, any help/suggestions are welcome...

thanks,
Royce

Once first incountered this problem I noticed that I had oil in my spark plug wehls.

So I went to the auto store and they gave me Bosch Platinum spark plugs could this be the problem

I've checked the fuel pump filter
Got new caps for the ECU
New airfilter

The only mods I have to the car are the free ones and a K&N filter

i had oil too. right after i took off the plastic spark plug wire cover, i saw oil just pooled in there and i know that's not a good thing. all the bolts on my valve cover were loose too. i dont know if any oil actually got down into the wells and onto my plugs...that's something i have to check...i didnt even think about that. im sure the caps on my ECU are leaking and need to be replaced sometime soon as well.

i have the stock, original injectors, is it possible that they could be clogged or that its time to be replaced? is there any way to clean them to squeeze more life out of them? iv'e also cleaned the throttle body. the butterfly and the area surrounding it is spotless, there's no carbon build up whatsoever...for now.

im still clueless on what might be the problem:confused:

I would try putting in some NGK bpr7es's and try a new or different set of spark plug wires. I would also check your timing, do an intake test, and look to see if any vacuum lines came loose.

same exact thing here dude. when I get on the gas it stuters like its running on 3 cylinders. When I had my mr2 I would wash my engine and water would get in the spark plug wells and the same exact thing would happen I would clean out the water and presto no more problem. I checked my spark plugs and sure enough thier was oil on the plugs on the washer right before the threads. I changed them out and cleaned the wells not sure if it fixed it yet cause I have to change my TB seals before I can take it for a test run sounds like we all have the same problem and culprit. I didnt even think of this either I was gonna buy a new power transistor and shit. I'm gonna hold off on that until I see if that fixed the problem. I know that because of the design of the valve cover water and oil will leak into the spark plug wells via the plug wire caps. I have a smile on my face right now but we'll see how long it stays after I change my TB seals.

cleaned the oil off the plugs fixed the stuttering/stumbling. TB seals fixed the vacum and power problem.
